Cardinals, Lions going to Class 1A

Potts Camp and H.W. Byers are dropping to Class 1A for the next two school years, 2017-18 and 2018-19 .

The Mississippi High School Activities Association reclassifies its member schools every two years based on the enrollment numbers.

Potts Camp is the largest school in Class 1A, while Byers is near the middle of the 1A pack.

Region opponents for Byers and Potts Camp will include (in football) Ashland, Biggersville, Falkner, Oko­lona, Smithville, Thrasher and Tupelo Christian and (in basketball) Ashland, Falkner, Hickory Flat, Myrtle and West Union.
