Bearcats win against Buccaneers, 76-71

The Rust College men’s basketball program shot better than 50 percent from the field and saw four of its five starters score in double-figures as it welcomed the University of the Virgin Islands to the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference with a 76-71 triumph in Northern Mississippi.

The Bearcats starting five of Jordin Jackson, Khalil Brown, Christopher Hood, Catthadious Moore, and Xavier Evans combined to drop 56 points, 21 rebounds, 10 assists, and five steals.

Brown and Moore shared the scoring lead at 16 apiece to front the Bearcats, going 6-of- 13 (46.2 percent) and 7-of-10 (70 percent), respectively, with the latter swiping a game-best three steals and a Bearcat-best six rebounds.

Evans was a perfect 4-for-4, with an additional four free throws, as he picked up 12 points and four boards.

Tornadoes defeat the Bearcats 62-51
