700,000 fans flood Motor City

The 2024 NFL draft took place in Detroit, Michigan. More than 700,000 fans flooded downtown Motor City for the three-day event. Football players waiting to see if their dreams have come true.

Whether it be the first overall pick or “Mr. Irrelevant, everyone has their story to complete. In every draft, one position stands out more than the rest, and by far this year, it was the quarterback. Six dynamic quarterbacks were drafted in the first round alone. Eleven quarterbacks heard their names called throughout the draft, making this year’s draft officially a quarterback draft.

Wide receivers were also drafted in high numbers. Arguably, the best player in the draft is Marvin Harrison Jr., drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, who is already receiving praise. He could be a top-ten receiver in the NFL

There weren’t many defensive guys taking in the first round, but on day two of the draft, many teams addressed the need for an interior defensive force; nine defensive tackles were drafted on day two.

My winner of the draft has to be the Chicago Bears. The Bears didn’t overthink the process and chose two great picks, quarterback Caleb Williams and wide-receiver Rome Odense, that could help someday bring a Vince Lombardi back to Chicago after nearly 40 years.

The losers in the NFL draft were the Cleveland Browns because they didn’t have many picks. Every other team drafted so well that it was hard to choose a loser in this year’s draft.

So many franchise cornerstones were drafted last week, and only time will tell who won the draft and who will have to rethink their decision and go back to the drawing board.
