Easter celebrated

Easter will be celebrated on Sunday, March 31. Mothers are shopping and looking for special discounts on the perfect dress for their daughters and suits/blazers for their boys. Plus, finding time to color Easter eggs is always fun for the family. But Easter Sunday is much more.

My daughter is twentyseven, and she takes care of her wardrobe. But picking out her Easter dress and shoes to match when she was young was fun. Also, we have many sweet memories of decorating Easter eggs and hiding them.

If you are a Christian, you will celebrate Easter Sunday. Some churches have Easter Contata’s or plays. I always enjoy an Easter Contata or play. The church music directors and choirs work for weeks before the musical is performed. Easter is a very special day in my life as well as many others.

Good Friday is the day observed as the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It is also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday, and Black Friday.

As a Christian, I recognized the day my Lord and Savior died on the Cross for my sins, but I also believe He rose again on the third day. I haven’t always thought that this man from Galilee came and walked this earth, teaching and performing miracles for all to hear and see. I was 21 years old when I realized and believed.

Back in the day, I didn’t make it to church every Sunday, but I would go occasionally. My father’s family was Catholic, and I attended Catholic school until seventh grade. My mother was a member of the Baptist Church, and as I got older, I attended the Baptist Church with her. I enjoyed going to both churches.

I learned about God and His son, Jesus, when I attended Catholic school. I was also taught many bible stories and attended Sunday School at Killen Baptist Church in Alabama.

I knew about God, Jesus, and Bible readings but did not know Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I did not know him in my heart. I had not accepted him as my Lord and Savior.

What I knew of this man who walked the earth was heavy on my mind when I was twenty-one. I searched for the answers by reading the bible at night when I came home from work or going out with friends. Then, one night, while reading my bible after going out with friends, I read about His grace and mercy. That is when I decided to believe Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and that He died on the Cross for all my sins, and He rose again so that we all may have eternal life.

I was a new person. “No longer I live, but Christ lives in me. So, I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20). This was one of the first verses I came across in the bible not too long after that night.

I know there are many different religions and beliefs. I also believe that life is a journey. My journey brought me to this belief.

Easter Sunday will be the day that I will observe, as well as many others, the resurrection of the Son of God. “Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die, and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11: 25-26)

Every day is a new journey, but my journey is with my Lord and Savior.
