Escaped inmate arrested

Dequan Sanchez Hall, 23, who was in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, was arrested Aug. 29 in Corinth, according to Sheriff Kenny Dickerson.

Hall had failed to show up to a court appearance and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest, the sheriff said.

Hall was in the custody of MDOC and was wearing an ankle bracelet when he violated probation by disarming his ankle bracelet, the sheriff said.

Hall, was one of two men charged in July 2022 in Marshall County for the capital murder of Frankie Cathey, who lived in the Chulahoma area.

Agents with the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force and with the Corinth Police Department went to 723 Dorsey Street in Corinth and made a forced entry of the house to find Hall hiding inside a closet, Dickerson said.

Hall was arrested without incident and taken to the Corinth Police Department and later returned to the Marshall County Jail, according to the sheriff.

Dickerson said Hall was set for trial in Marshall County and when he did not show up for his court date a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.

At the time of Hall’s arrest and charge of capital murder July 27, 2022, he was one of 13 persons held in the Marshall County Jail charged with murder, the sheriff said.
