I guess we’re beyond the “Letter to Santa” stage at the Burleson household.
Our youngest, Erin, is about to turn 12. It’s hard to believe she’s one year from being a teenager.
Close to Nowhere
I hate it when Barry’s column coincides with mine. I promise, I’ve not plagarized! I just barely glanced at his before beginning to grind my teeth.
I always like to write my own letter to Santa. I don’t think I’ve missed a year since I began writing my column.
Congress should finalize water resources legislation
For the first time in six years, Congress is nearing final passage of a new Water Resources Development Act (WRDA).
A bipartisan conference is working to reconcile the differences between the two versions of the bill that passed the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate with overwhelming support earlier this year. As a member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, I helped draft the Senate version of the legislation.
Letters to the Editor
Smiling Phoenix closing
My wife, Jenifer Eggleston and I opened The Smiling Phoenix to provide a missing piece of the varied tapestry in a small town’s urban scene — perhaps crack open the door just a bit to glimpse what a small town community space could be like here in beautiful and historic Holly Springs. Local citizenry, visitors to our city and every study group that has come here to see what is working and what is not – all said, “Holly Springs needs a nice, comfortable coffee shop — maybe a bookstore, something that could be an inviting community gathering space.” This was seen as necessary towards enriching our town’s choice of amenities, help to make our visitors’ time here more pleasant and perhaps pass along the word.
