Making the connection between home, school

Holly Springs School District Parent Center sponsored its annual duty-free lunch for teachers and staff in honor of American Education Week on November 19 at Holly Springs Intermediate School.
Beverly Phillips, sponsor, would like to thank the following: Mayor Kelvin Buck, Theonia Milan Johnson, parent; Doris P. Williamson, retired ICS teacher; Eva Lay, retired teacher; Dornetta Howell Martin, PTA president; Van Delois King, retired teacher; Ernest Jones, retired teacher; Charles Richmond, retired teacher; Leona Harris, Ida B. Wells Museum curator; Turner Lester, retired teacher; Shavonia Tennial, retired teacher; Lemon Phelps, Marshall County Extension Service; Shannon Crane, parent; Gladys Payne, retired counselor; Angela Mayfield, ICS; Cassandra Faulkner, Marshall County Medicaid office; Dorlean Gibson, instructional coach at Holly Springs Intermediate School, and Susan Brown, principal at Holly Springs Intermediate School. It was a great success.

Holly Springs Intermediate School will hold a Federal Programs/School Improvement meeting on Wednesday, December 11, at 10 a.m. in instructional coach Dorlean Gibson’s office. Parents and community leaders are invited and encouraged to attend.
Holly Springs Parent Center will hold a parent training on the School Attendance Law on Thursday, December 19, at 12 (noon) Parent Center and 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. Kinmarie Carter, school attendance office will be the presenter. The training is for all parents with children in grades 4-12. Lunch and light snacks will be provided.
We will not have a PTA meeting on Thursday, December 12, due to Jr. High and Intermediate game against Holy Family Jr. High. The PTA meeting will be held on Thursday, December 19, at 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria. It will be on the same night as the parent training. The sixth grade students or teachers will be presenting at the PTA meeting. PTA president Dornetta Howell Martin is encouraging all parents to attend.
The Parent Center is in need of school uniforms and belts. You are welcome to donate those too-small uniforms to the center located on the Intermediate School campus.
Holly Springs Intermediate School’s Christmas program will be held on Friday, December 13, at 1 p.m. in the gym and at 6 p.m. on December 16 in the gym. Admission is free on December 13, and $2 at the door on December 16. The public is invited.
