Timothy Briggs Jr.
Timothy Briggs Jr., 57, died May 19, 2013 at his home. He was a member of Concord MB Church and a former member of the usher board. A 1973 graduate of Sand Flat High School, he was a former employee of Carrier Air Conditioning Company in Collierville, Tenn.; and a self-employed truck driver. He was also a deejay, “DJ Junior Smooth.”
Services were held at 12 noon on May 25 at Concord MB Church with burial in the church cemetery. Pastor Clyde Williams officiated. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves three daughters, LaRhonda Shead, Tenisha Mays, both of Memphis, Tenn., Olivia Mull of Lamar; two brothers, Tommy (Ardelia) Briggs of Memphis, Lawrence (Delois) Briggs of Lamar; two sisters, Jeanette (Pastor Harvey) Garrison, Bernice Briggs of Lamar; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Briggs of Lamar; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Briggs and Joe Edward Briggs.
Kevin LeMond Griffin
Kevin LeMond Griffin, 39, of Holly Springs, died May 23, 2013 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of Hopewell No. 1 MB Church.
Visitation will be May 31, 2-7 p.m., with family visitation from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on June 1 at Anderson Chapel CME Church with burial in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. André DeBerry will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Tonya Underwood Griffin of Memphis; two sons, DeMetrius Griffin, TaDarius Griffin, both of Memphis; three daughters, Jasmine Griffin, Nikiera Griffin, Alberta Griffin, all of Memphis; father, Lenwood Griffin of Holly Springs; a sister, Sherry Griffin of Holly Springs a brother, Terry Griffin of Belleville, Ill.; and his grandmother, Vorchies Brooks of Los Angeles, Ca.;
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alberta DeBerry Griffin.
Henry Louis Gray
Henry Louis Gray, 58, died May 16, 2013 at Alliance HealthCare Center in Holly Springs.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on May 23 at Royston Chapel CME Church in Potts Camp. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Gwendolyn Nelson, pastor; Rev. James Green, eulogist. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves three sisters, Limmie (Olanda), Causby (David), both of Holly Springs, Deborah (Will) of Atlanta, Ga.; and a brother, Dwight Gray of Hickory Flat.
Pallbearers were Jessie Holt, Doriane Holt, Timothy Brown, Olandre Brown, David Holt Jr., Rodney Brown and Kendric Brown. Honorary pallbearers were Dwight Gray, David Holt Sr. and Olanda Brown.
William Oliver Hudspeth
William Oliver Hudspeth, 84, of Ashland, died May 23, 2013, at Grenada Living Center. He was the widower of Bobilu Simpson Hudspeth. He was a member of Ashland Baptist Church. He was a farmer and a master carpenter and member of Carpenter Local 345.
Family graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on May 27 at Ashland Cemetery. Rev. William Kemp officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves two sons, W.R. Hudspeth of Ashland, Marc Hill (Brittany) of Oakland; three daughters, Kitty Hill (Tommy) of Tillatoba, Leigh Norris (Daniel) of Abbeville, Emy Hill (Will) of Oakland; a brother, Frank Hudspeth of Magnolia, Tx.; two sisters, Mary Laverne McDaniel of Memphis, Tenn., Corrine Morrow of Savannah, Tenn.; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Bethel Cemetery in Hickory Flat or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Emma Ruth Anderson Martin
Emma Ruth Anderson Martin, 79, of Holly Springs, died May 25, 2013, in her home. She was a member of Finley Grove MB Church. The widow of Robert Martin, she was disabled.
Visitation will be held May 31 at the funeral home, from 2-8:30 p.m., with family visitation from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and June 1 from 1-1:55 p.m. at Rust College Doxey Auditorium.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on June 1 at Doxey Auditorium on the Rust College campus with burial in Finley Grove MB Church cemetery. Rev. James Green will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She leaves eight daughters, Felicia Patterson of Aurora, Ill, Janet Jordan, Jean Martin, Denise Martin, Erika Martin, Connie Davis, Karen Martin, Deatrice Martin, all of Holly Springs; a stepdaughter, Loretha Ingram of Aurora; four sons, James Anderson, Judah Martin, both of Holly Springs, Derrick Martin of Hickory Flat, Henry Lee Martin of Southaven; two sisters, Clemmie McFadden, Amanda Scales, both of Holly Springs; two brothers, James Henry Anderson, Eugene Anderson, both of Holly Springs; 29 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Thaddeus Martin and Millicent Martin.
Rosie Lee Strickland
Rosie Lee Strickland, 68, of Lamar, died May 15, 2013 at the Tippah County Hospital in Ripley. The widow of Jimmie Lewis Strickland, she attended Old Salem School in Lamar and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Holly Springs.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on May 25 at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Samuel Chapel MB Church Cemetery. Pastor Leroy White Jr. officiated.
She leaves nine children, John Robert Everett, Perry A. Everett, Coretta (Jerone) Curry, Laquita (Terrance) Tanksley, Lakesia (Johnathan) Hatch, Virginia (Larry) Davis, all of Michigan City, Octavia (Jimmie) Hunt of Memphis, Tenn., Jimmy (Michelle) Strickland, Marcus Strickland, both of Corinth; eight siblings, Shawn Bowles, Deborah (Dennis) Cox, Iris (Danny) Bell, all of Cleveland, Ohio, Roscoe Peterson of Detroit, Mich., Aileen Nolden of Los Angeles, Ca., Sherman Everett of Springfield, Ill., Loretta Richards, Darlene Everett, both of Chicago, Ill.; 22 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Franklin McClellan, Winslow Isom, Jackie Ray Davis, Ralph Tipler, Major Everett and Johnathan Hatch. Honorary pallbearers were Demarcus Strickland, Chris Strickland, Antonio Bogard, Shundarius Strickland and Cedric Williams.
She was preceded in death by two children, Ruth Pearl Everett, Timothy Hoyle and a brother, Leroy Bowles, Jr.
