Senior salute included in this week’s paper
This week’s South Reporter includes a salute to high school seniors.
Soon-to-be graduates from schools throughout Marshall County are featured in pages 7-16 of the second section.
See that section for a list of area graduation ceremonies, most scheduled for this weekend and the following week, plus lots of congratulatory ads.
Main Street movies continue this Thursday
“Moonlight, Magnolias, Movies and More” will continue this Thursday, May 16, and runs through Thursday, May 30.
The event, which begins at 7:30 p.m., is sponsored by the Holly Springs Main Street Chamber. Movies are shown free to the public in Spring Hollow Park.
“Come and enjoy an evening in the park,” said Shanette Folsom, Main Street Chamber executive director.
Food for Fines in May at county library
During the whole month of May, individuals can bring canned food items into any branch of the Marshall County Library, Holly Springs, Potts Camp or Byhalia, and take care of their library fines.
One can is equal to $1 in fines.
All donations will go to the Marshall County Food Pantry at New Hope Village in Holly Springs.
“Help a family in need,” said library director Amanda McDonald.
Byhalia festival slated for June 13-15
The Byhalia Lions Club is getting ready for its summer festival, a fund-raiser for the club, the FFA, Byhalia fire and police departments and Christmas for the troops and other worthy causes.
The festival opens on Thursday night, June 13, at 5 p.m. with a carnival and a talent contest put on by the Byhalia Arts Council. Thursday night is arm-band night and everyone who purchases one rides all night at one cost.
The J Bar B Rodeo, led by Jerry Bolden, will put on a competition for the Mid-South Rodeo Association on Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15, from 7 p.m.-9 p.m.
Entertainment Friday night and Saturday night begins at 9 p.m. Eddie Smith and Papa and Don McMinn’s Family Band are slated for Friday evening. The Wolf River Rednecks play Saturday night. Parking is free.
