New Medicaid building going up
By SUE WATSON
The Holly Springs Regional Office of the Division of Medicaid will soon be in a new facility.
The office, currently located on East Salem Avenue (Highway 4 East) in the city, will be expanded to serve a growing client base.
Cheryl Brewer, bureau director in the Holly Springs office, said Marshall, Benton and Lafayette counties are served out of this regional office, currently housed in 5,000 square feet. The new building, going up on J.M. Ash Drive across from the Holly Springs Police Department, has 8,000 square feet, she said.
“We will have work stations and an open atmosphere,” Brewer said. “We will have interview rooms, and our waiting area will double from 12 chairs to 40. It is currently like a little box.”
Brewer said the new location will make the center able to serve clients more efficiently. The new facility will operate at a higher level of technology, she said.
She expects the case load to increase over the next few years. So will the number of employees at the center.
The office now operates with the bureau director, two administrative assistants, 14 specialists, and two assistant supervisors, bringing the total number employed now to 19, Brewer said.
