The
battle to determine who is best among the county schools recorded
another chapter on Thursday night when the teams from Potts Camp met
those from H.W. Byers.
For
the girls, the rivalry
began even at three apiece. The host Lady Lions began mishandling the
ball, often. The Lady Cardinals took full advantage and had doubled

H.W. Byers drops two at Coahoma County By BARRY BURLESON Editor A long road trip to Coahoma County Monday night, Dec. 17, did not turn out the way H.W. Byers basketball teams had hoped. Both the Lady Lions and Lions lost close games to a school which will join them in the same district next season. Full Story
Marshall Academy teams going to Immanuel tourney Marshall Academy basketball teams will play in the Immanuel Christian Tournament this weekend. They open play Thursday, Dec. 27. The girls face Columbus at 2:45 p.m. and the boys meet Greenville St. Joe at 7:45 p.m. On
Friday, Dec. 28, the Patriots will face Old Dominion at 11:45 a.m. and
the Lady Patriots will go against East Webster at 1 p.m. Then
to wrap up the tournament, the MA boys will face Aberdeen at 3 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 29, and the girls will meet Caledonia at 4:15 p.m. The
Patriots (12-0) and Lady Patriots (13-4) faced Center Hill last Friday
night at home to wrap up the pre-Christmas portion of their schedule.
The newspaper had an early deadline due to the holiday schedule.
H.W. Byers hosting baseball camp H.W. Byers
High School is hosting a six-week baseball camp starting February 3,
2013. Byers head coach Arthur Sellers will direct the program in
conjunction with U.S. Baseball Academy. Classes are available for
players in grades 1-12 and are limited to six players per coach.
Sessions are offered in advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding
