Obituaries

Sheila Dugard

Sheila Dugard, 52, of Hernando, died Dec. 15, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.

Services will be held at a later date. Holly Springs Funeral Home is in charge of services.

She leaves three daughters, Karen Dugard, Katherine Gary, both of Memphis, Tenn., Sharon Wright of Hickory Flat; two brothers, Thomas Dugard, Keith Dugard, both of Kansas; and six grandchildren.

Derrell Elmore Lea Jr.

Derrell Elmore (D.J.) Lea Jr., 31, of Potts Camp, died Dec. 17, 2012, at NE MS Medical Center. He was a heavy equipment operator with Holly Springs Utility Department.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 20 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Coldwater Baptist Cemetery in Barton.

He leaves his wife, Danielle Lea of Potts Camp; his father, Derrell Lea Sr. (Tracy) of Collierville, Tenn.; his mother, Kerry Taylor, Donna Chipman of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a son, Ryan Bentley Lea of Potts Camp; two brothers, Brandon Lea, Josh Lea, both of Collierville; a sister, Tara Lea of Collierville; grandparents William Adair (Jackie) of Senatobia, Joyce Yarbrough (Don) of North Carolina; Barbara Humphreys (George) of Holly Springs.

Melba Sue Jones Owen

Melba Sue Jones Owen, 68, of the Mt. Pleasant community near Collierville, died Dec. 16, 2012 at her home. She was a medical technologist at the Memphis Veterans Medical Center for 20 years before her retirement 12 years ago. She was a member of the Memphis Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on Dec. 19 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pastor Rev. Ray Branch officiated. Piperton Funeral Office of Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her husband of 52 years, Walter George Owen Sr.; her daughter, Cecelia Owen Hester (Curtis) of Mt. Pleasant; her son, Walter Owen Jr. (Tina) of Mt. Pleasant; her sister, Jean Elaine Dunn of Mt. Pleasant; her brother, Roy Herman Jones Jr. of Pulaski, Tenn.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bruce Sebring, Matt Thompson, Cody Teel, Don Whitley, Ken Ranks and Mike Lewis. Honorary pallbearers were Walter Owen III and Reid Patterson.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Shelby County Chapter of the ALS Association, 670 Warwick Oaks Lane East, Collierville, TN 38017, or to the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 8 Methodist Street, Holly Springs, MS 38635.

Margaret Sommers

Margaret Sommers, 72, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 14, 2012, at Baptist DeSoto in Southaven. She was the widow of Floyd Sommers.

Services will be held at a later date. Holly Springs Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a daughter, Tayla Parker of Millington, Tenn.
