advertising deadline for the December 27 edition is this Friday, Dec.
21, at 9 a.m. The deadline for all other advertising (including legal
notices) and all news copy is this Friday, Dec. 21, at 2 p.m. The newspaper will be delivered on the regular schedule next week. “Thanks
to everyone for your support this year,” publisher Barry Burleson said.
“We hope all of you have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.” There
will also be early deadlines for the first paper of 2013, which will be
dated January 3. The South Reporter offices will be closed New Year’s
Day. Those deadlines will be announced next week. The South Reporter will begin its 148th year of publication in 2013. The newspaper got its start in 1865. Distribution each week is 5,200 copies. City school board sets meeting for Jan. 15 The January 2013 meeting of the Holly Springs School Board has been scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 6 p.m. It will be held in the Holly Springs High School Library, 165 North Walthall Street. County library plans ‘Forgiving Week’ Start the New Year off with a clean slate. Marshall
County Library System is having a “Forgiving Week.” Bring back your
overdue library materials the week of January 7-January 11 with no late
fees. They may be returned to any branch in Byhalia, Potts Camp or Holly Springs. If you have any questions, call the Marshall County Library at 252-3823. Byhalia police officers respond to 36 calls The Byhalia Police Department responded to 36 calls during the past week. Chief
Gary Looney released the following report – alarm calls, 4;
miscellaneous, 13; escorts, 7; thefts, 1; disturbances, 1; motor
vehicle accidents, 1; and medical, 9. Byhalia police officers also made three arrests during the past week.
