Lady Cardinals win two in tourney By BARRY BURLESON Editor The Potts Camp Lady Cardinals got back on the winning track in the Ingomar Christmas Classic. After
starting the season 10-0, coach Tana Miller’s team had dropped two
straight. Then in the holiday tournament, they won two and improved to
12-2. The Potts Camp girls began play in the tourney Thursday with a 73-45 rout of Falkner. The
Lady Cards stormed to a 19-4 advantage after the first quarter. They
struggled a bit in the second quarter but outscored Falkner 42-25 the
rest of the way. Hayley Davis blistered the nets for 21 points. Zana Davis had 13 and Tenesha Woods 10. The Potts Camp girls then steamrolled Myrtle 70-32 on Saturday in the holiday tournament. H. Davis was again the top point-producer with 16. Woods was close behind with 14. Brittany Pitts added 10. The Potts Camp Lady Cardinals battled back in the fourth quarter Tuesday of last week at Ashland, but came up one point short. They
were down 45-39 at the half and fell behind 64-44 after three. They
outscored the Lady Blue Devils by nine in the third, but lost 77-76. It followed the Potts Camp girls’ first loss of the season December 7 to H.W. Byers. Z. Davis lit up the scoreboard with a game-high 24 points versus Ashland. Pitts had 16 and Jessica Peterson 12. Four

Tucker with 15, Mashonda Mason with 13 and Jaliyah Godwin with 13. The Ashland girls improved to 6-4. Potts Camp boys The Cardinals went up against the host squad Thursday night in the Ingomar Christmas Classic and fell 74-44. Potts Camp was within 13 at the half but couldn’t make up ground in the third and the fourth quarters. No Cardinals scored in double figures. Jamarquis Foster had nine. Then on Saturday in the holiday classic, the Potts Camp boys lost 76-53 to Myrtle. The Cards (1-14) were behind 37-26 at halftime but fell behind by 16 after three periods. Brantley Harris scored 14 for Potts Camp, while Xavion Allen added 13. Tuesday of last week, the host Ashland Blue Devils blasted the Cardinals 73-39. Ashland took full control after just one quarter, leading 26-6. For Potts Camp, Jarvis Jones scored 12. Leading Ashland were Tirease Williams with 22 and Garius Scruggs with 15. The Devils improved their record to 6-5. Schedule Potts
Camp teams played at Byhalia Tuesday. They conclude the 2012 portion of
their schedule Thursday night with a trip to another county rival, H.W.
Byers.
