Lions sweep Cardinals By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor The 10-0 Lady Cardinals got off to a good shooting start Friday night with one of their stars, Zana Davis, leading the way. The
Potts Camp girls jumped out to an early lead of 7-2 over rival H.W.
Byers before a loyal noisy crowd in their gym. There had been some
speculation around the area as to whether the Lady Cardinals could hang
with the high-powered offense of Byers. Potts Camp led the entire
quarter and was up 20-16 at the end. Full Story
Indians honored on All-State team By BARRY BURLESON Editor Byhalia
High School’s football program received plenty of notoriety when the
Class 3A All-State team was announced last week by the Clarion-Ledger
newspaper. Four Indians were honored for their performances in 2012. Full Story

Holly High squads split with Senatobia By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor The 4A visitors came to Hawk land Tuesday night, Dec. 4, with a 7-1 record and picked up the first deuce on a fast break. After
that the Senatobia Lady Warriors went through the back door often. The
Holly Springs girls were down nine points (10-1) for awhile until they
got some production from Megan Crittle. However, they were still
chasing the Lady Warriors 17-8 at the end of the quarter. Full Story
Two Patriots All-MAIS A pair of Marshall Academy Patriots have been named to the 2012 All-MAIS Football Team. Honored
with spots on the First Team Defense by the Mississippi Association of
Independent Schools were defensive lineman Zack Pritchett and defensive
back Aaron McAlexander. Both Pritchett and
McAlexander are seniors. They helped lead the Patriots to a Class AA
state runner-up finish this season. MA won the North Half by beating
District 1-AA rival North Delta and finished with an 11-3 record.

Potts Camp girls down Calhoun City Potts Camp began Region 2-2A play Tuesday of last week with a split versus Calhoun City at home. The Lady Cardinals used big first and third quarters to roll over the Lady Wildcats 74-56. Full Story

games into a new season, they’re on track to win a third straight Class
A state championship. They’re 9-1, the lone loss coming to 6A

Holly High falls at Ripley Holly Springs suffered a pair of double-digit losses Thursday night at Ripley. The Lady Hawks dropped an 86-66 decision. Full Story

shot made the final score 92-46 in favor of the Lady Lions. In last

Getting ready for state
The
Potts Camp cheerleaders performed Friday night during the basketball
games between between the Cardinals and the H.W. Byers Lions. Some
members of the group are (front row) Abby Farr, Bailey Sanderson and
Linsey Barber; and (back row) Destiny Waddle and Makiyah Trammel. The
entire squad will compete at state this weekend in Jackson. |
