Whitaker Beck, 68, died Jan. 25, 2012, at Country Cottage in Corinth.
She was a registered nurse who worked for Holly Springs Public School
System for 11 years, Marshall County Hospital and retired from Marshall
County Health Department. Memorial services
were held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 30 at Christ Episcopal Church in Holly
Springs. The Very Reverend Bruce McMillan officiated. Memorial Funeral
Home of Corinth was in charge of arrangements. She
leaves her son, Jerry B. Beck (Diane) of Glen; a daughter, Jacque
Kazemba (Mike) of Holly Springs; brothers James (Carolyn) Whitaker,
Gerald (Becky) Whitaker, Joe (Linda) Bartlett, Bobby (Pam) Bartlett,
all of Salisbury, N.C., Jim (Kathy) Bartlett of Chapel Hill, N.C.;
sisters JoAnn Bartlett of Salisbury, Evelyn Gray Biggs of Orange Park,
Fla.; and five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers,

E. (Dottie) Chumney, 71, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 25, 2012, at
Hospice House of Tupelo. She was the owner of Boots ’N Spurs Western
Store in Red Banks. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. on Jan. 31 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Stanley Huddleston officiated. She
leaves two daughters, Patti Chumney Watson of Charlottesville, Va.,
Donna Faye Chumney of Red Banks; three brothers, Rube Kenneth Stanton
of Hayesville, N.C., Timmy Weatherford of Holly Springs, George

Hindman
Doxey Jr., 80, died Jan. 16, 2012, at his home in Jackson. He was a
native of Holly Springs and graduated from Holly Springs High School in
1949. He attended Davidson College, graduated from Ole Miss and
received his master’s degree in geology from Louisiana State
University. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and a U.S. Army
veteran. He retired from a career in Jackson as a geologist with CITGO
oil company. He attended North Park Presbyterian Church for many years.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at Montreat Memorial Garden in Montreat, N.C. He leaves sisters Sarah Doxey Greer, Helen Doxey Tyson (Jack), Frances Doxey Winter (Rusty). Eddie
Fannie Henderson Isom, 71, of Holly Springs, died Jan. 26, 2012, at
Baptist Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. She was the widow of Tommie L.
Isom. She was a former member of Concord MB Church in Slayden and a
retired school bus driver with ICS Headstart. Services
were held at 2 p.m. on Feb. 1 at Kimbrough Chapel MB Church in Holly
Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Rev. J.W. Smith Jr. officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was
in charge of arrangements. She leaves nine
daughters, Mae Joyce Isom of Lithonia, Ga., Pinkie M. Isom of Slayden,
Betty Mae Isom, Emma D. Isom, Beatrice Isom, Venissa Isom, Vickie Isom,
Shirley D. Isom, Jessie O. Isom, all of Holly Springs; three sons, John
A. Isom, Tommie A. Isom, James H. Isom, all of Holly Springs; children
she raised, Marcus Isom, Tevin Isom, Tierra Isom, all of Lithonia,
Eddie Shandra Isom Crane, Joyce Campbell, Terry Isom, Eddie L. Isom,
Cordett Isom, Larry Barksdale, all of Holly Springs, Anita Faulkner of
Lamar; a sister, Nannie Sue Brazil of Memphis, Tenn.; 39 grandchildren
and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by children Pinkie Isom and Betty Jean Isom. Shirley Edlin Jones Shirley
Edlin “Miss Shirley” Jones, 65, of Covington, Tenn., died Jan. 23,
2012. She retired from the Tipton County School System, having spent 19
years teaching at Brighton Elementary School. Prior to coming to Tipton
County, she taught in Mississippi having spent a total of 35 years in
her teaching career. She attended the Covington Church of Christ. Services were held on Jan. 28 at the Covington Funeral Home Chapel. She
leaves her husband, John Jones; two sons, Eric Jones of Covington,
Chase (Donna) Jones of Manchester, Tenn.; a sister, Linda (Kenneth)
Randolph of Atoka, Tenn.; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Jean Edlin; a sister, Rita Smith; and a nephew, Todd Randolph. The

G. Komen Foundation or a breast cancer research center of the donor’s

Jackson McFarland, 90, of Tucker, Ga., formerly of Holly Springs, died
Jan. 12, 2012, at Tucker Graceland Assisted Living in Tucker. She was
the widow of Floyd Vance McFarland, a member of Providence MB Church in
Holly Springs and a self-employed domestic worker. Services
were held at 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 28 at Christ Temple Church of God In
Christ. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Elder Albert Pass

arrangements. She leaves two children, Beatrice
Robertson of St. Louis, Mo., Caroline Madden of Stone Mountain, Ga.;

Aurora, Ill.; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren. Martha Jean Sanders Martha
Jean Sanders, 75, of Byhalia, died Jan. 23, 2012, at Baptist Hospital
in Memphis, Tenn. She was a member of Carey Chapel Baptist Church and
an upholsterer. Services were held at 11 a.m. on
Jan. 27 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Carey
Chapel Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Bro. John Harris officiated. She
leaves her mother, Bonnie B. Jones of Mt. Pleasant; a son, Mark David
Mills Sr. of Memphis; two daughters, Bonnie Katharina Didier of
Springfield, Mo., Brenda Tata of Byhalia; two brothers, Jerry Huckeba
