County library launches new Facebook page
The Marshall County Library System now has a Facebook page.
“Please visit our page and become a fan,” library director Amanda McDonald said. “You will receive notices about new books in the library, library programs and events, and other activity updates.”
As of February 1, the Potts Camp Branch of the Marshall County Library System will have new hours. Hours at Potts Camp will be Monday 1 p.m.-7 p.m., Tuesday 1 p.m.-5 p.m., closed Wednesday, Thursday 3 p.m.-7 p.m., Friday 1 p.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
In other library news, the Marshall County Library now has a young adult/teen area with new books coming in every month. Read “The Hunger Games” trilogy before the movie comes out in March.
As always, the Marshall County Library has the Friends of the Library Book Sale going on every day. Hardback books are $1, paperbacks are 50 cents. Ask about this section to find great reading opportunities.
H.W. Byers to host Region 2-1A Tourney
H.W. Byers High School will host the Region 2-1A Basketball Tournament next week.
Top seeds are the Byers girls and the Coldwater boys. The Byers boys are seeded second.
The tournament begins Tuesday, Feb. 7, with four first-round games.
• 4 p.m. – Ashland girls vs. West Union.
• 5:30 p.m. – Ingomar boys vs. West Union.
• 7 p.m. – Myrtle girls vs. Ingomar.
• 8:30 p.m. – Ashland boys vs. Myrtle.
The semi-finals will be played Thursday, Feb. 9.
• 4 p.m. – Coldwater girls vs. Ashland-W. Union winner.
• 5:30 p.m. – Coldwater boys vs. Ashland-Myrtle winner.
• 7 p.m. – Byers girls vs. Myrtle-Ingomar winner.
• 8:30 p.m. – Byers boys vs. Ingomar-W. Union winner.
Consolation games will be played Friday, Feb. 10, at 4 p.m. (girls) and 5:30 p.m. (boys). Championship games will follow Friday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. (girls) and 8:30 p.m. (boys).
The top four teams advance to North State.
