Lady Cards go to 9-0 By BARRY BURLESON Editor The Potts Camp Lady Cardinals remained unbeaten last week with two wins in the Walnut Tournament. Coach Tana Miller’s team beat Alcorn Central by seven and the host school by 26 to go to 9-0 on the season. The
schedule really heats up this week. The Lady Cards started Region 2-2A
play Tuesday night of this week versus Calhoun City. They host Marshall
County rival H.W. Byers Friday “It’s been a good November, but we realize it’s going to be a really tough week this week,” Miller said. After those two games comes a trip to Ashland next Tuesday, Dec. 11, and then the Ingomar Tournament December 14-15. Lady Cardinals The
Potts Camp girls led by just one point heading into the fourth quarter
versus Alcorn Central Thursday night at Walnut before winning 58-51. Tenesha
Woods kept up her solid point production in the early season. She
poured in 21. Also scoring in double figures were Jessica Peterson with
16 and Hayley Davis with 11. On Saturday, the
Lady Cardinals struggled a bit in the early going versus Walnut, but
they outscored the Lady Wildcats 23-4 in the third period on their way
to a 65-39 victory. Woods was again the top gun with 21. Brittany Pitts tossed in 17 and Peterson added 13. Cardinals The Potts Camps boys dropped three games in the Walnut Tournament. They opened the three-day event with an 87-52 loss to Ripley. The Cards trailed 40-25 at the half. Jamarquis Foster, D’Arius Marble and Xavion Allen scored 12 points each in the loss. The
Cardinals couldn’t hang on versus the host school on Friday night. They
let a one-point halftime lead slip away and fell 48-43 to Walnut. Jarvis Jones scored 11. Marble followed with 10. The Potts Camp Cardinals then closed the tournament Saturday with a 77-62 setback to Alcorn Central. The second quarter was the big difference. That’s when the Bears outscored the Cardinals 18-6. Four
Cardinals led a balanced attack in the loss – Foster with 14, Courtney
Grimes with 13, Allen with 12 and Jordon Harris with 11. Next
up for Potts Camp (1-9) was the district opener versus Calhoun City
this past Tuesday. They host Byers Friday and go to Ashland next
Tuesday.
