Service Commissioner Brandon Presley announces he will hold a public
comment hearing regarding the City of Holly Springs’ proposed natural
gas rates that have been filed with the Public Service Commission. The
hearing will provide the public a chance to make comments about the
proposed rates on the record. It will be held Monday, Nov. 26, at 6
p.m. in the Marshall County Courthouse Annex, Courtroom B, 107 Market
Street, Holly Springs. New housing set for construction in city Mayor
Andre’ DeBerry and Alfred Moore, executive director of the Holly
Springs Housing Authority, announce 36 new, high quality, affordable
homes are coming to the city using tax credits allocated by the
Mississippi Home Corporation. On October 11, the
Mississippi Home Corporation allocated $4.2 million in tax credits to
the construction of Murphy Lane, a single-family community to be built
off Highway 178 West in Holly Springs. DeBerry
and the Housing Authority worked with Rosedale Corporation of Oxford to
enter the proposed community in the highly competitive Mississippi tax
credit allocation round for 2012, and Murphy Lane was one of only four
applications in Congressional District 1 to win and the sole new
construction application to win the award. Moore
said, “We are proud to have the opportunity to bring this high quality
community to Holly Springs, and, considering the competitiveness of the
application as well as the high demand for quality homes in Holly
Springs, it is a blessing for the city.” Murphy
Lane will begin construction in January 2013, and it is estimated to be
available for move-in in early summer 2013. The general contractor will
be Winters Construction of Oxford. If you are interested in becoming a
part of the Murphy Lane community, call 248-593-4618.
