Election coverage is always exciting but tiresome, too.
My first induction into the process really came when I moved to Mississippi back in 1986 to work at The Itawamba County Times in Fulton – “The Only Newspaper in the World That Cares Anything About Itawamba County.”
Close to Nowhere
Into the fray once again
For the past couple weeks I’ve been doing something that has become a semi-regular every three or four years occurrence.
I’m cleaning my sewing room — again. I freely admit I am a slob. And when I’m sewing, it’s much worse. If I cut something off — fling — right onto the floor. If I’m looking for a piece of fabric — fling — all the fabric I’m pawing through — right onto the floor.
‘Preacher’s Corner’ collection offered to loyal readers
Readers of Dr. Milton Winter’s weekly column, “The Preacher’s Corner,” will enjoy a collection of his columns, published in book and CD format, now available at The South Reporter office for $12 per copy or disc.
The columns are gathered into two books, and are indexed for easy reference. Milton, who is pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Holly Springs, has written for The South Reporter since 1989.
Letter to The Editor
I really cannot understand why anyone would have to get permission from the mayor before they can speak with the board of aldermen.
I have spoken with the mayor on several different occasions and with different men at the utility department from Mr. Hollingsworth down, concerning our natural gas hookups.
I signed up for the gas several years back. Some of the lines were run but we keep getting excuses about a contract. How long could it take to finish mine and many others’ that have been waiting for years and keep paying expensive propane prices when we were promised these hook-ups years back?
Aldermen, please check into this and get us some help.
We have a friend on Red Banks Rd. that has been waiting over 16 years since he signed up. This is ridiculous.
