Shaw Cafeteria with the coronation of Miss Rust College following at
8:30 p.m. in the McMillan Multi-Purpose Center. The Founders’ Parade in downtown Holly Springs is Saturday, Nov. 10, at 11 a.m. The homecoming basketball games versus Lemoyne-Owen will be held that evening at 5:30 in the gymnasium. Sunday’s
activities include the Founders’ Breakfast at 8 a.m. in Shaw Cafeteria,
the Memorial Service at 9:30 a.m. in Hill Crest Cemetery and the
Founders’ Convocation at 11 a.m. in the Doxey Alumni Fine
Arts-Communication Center. Howell sentenced for manslaughter Denorris
Howell, convicted by a Marshall County jury for the manslaughter of
Lakeith “Kee Kee” Jones of Holly Springs, was sentenced in circuit
court in Ripley Wednesday, Nov. 1. Judge Robert
Elliott sentenced Howell to 20 years imprisonment with three years of
that sentence suspended, according to court sources. Howell’s trial was held in September before Judge Elliott in circuit court in Holly Springs. Jones was shot five times in Howell’s garage at his home on Old Highway 7 South in Waterford in July 2010. Oxford attorney David Hill argued at trial that his client shot Jones in self-defense. The prosecution had asked the jury for a murder conviction or a conviction on manslaughter charges. County school board will next meet Nov. 15 The Marshall County Board of Education announces a change of date for its next meeting. The
school board will meet for the regular November meeting on Thursday,
Nov. 15, at 4:30 p.m. at 103B Market Street, in Holly Springs. City school board sets Nov. 15 meeting The
regular November meeting of the board of trustees of the Holly Springs
School District has been scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 15. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Holly Springs High School library, 165 North Walthall Street.
