Howell sentenced for manslaughter
Denorris Howell, convicted by a Marshall County jury for the manslaughter of Lakeith “Kee Kee” Jones of Holly Springs, was sentenced in circuit court in Ripley Wednesday, Nov. 1.
Judge Robert Elliott sentenced Howell to 20 years imprisonment with three years of that sentence suspended, according to court sources.
Howell’s trial was held in September before Judge Elliott in circuit court in Holly Springs.
Jones was shot five times in Howell’s garage at his home on Old Highway 7 South in Waterford in July 2010.
Oxford attorney David Hill argued at trial that his client shot Jones in self-defense.
The prosecution had asked the jury for a murder conviction or a conviction on manslaughter charges.
