Indians wrap up second in district, home playoff game By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor The
importance of the game which was played on Indian ground Friday night
in a drizzly, cold confrontation was a matter of travel. Both
Byhalia and North Panola had identical Region 3-3A records (3-1) and
the loser would have to hit the road in the first round of the
playoffs, while the winner would be able to bask in all the glow of a

were freshmen when Potts Camp started its football program. Friday
night, they walked off the field 45-10 winners over New Site to cap a

Chris Rankin said his Hawks gave maximum effort but had execution
problems in a 28-19 loss. They completed their season at 4-7. The
Aggies move on the Class 3A state playoffs as the number four team from

and stats probably played a bigger role than some fans and players
failed to realize in the games taking center stage in the SEC in week
nine. The SEC didn’t have all of the really important contests. Across
the spectrum, games like Notre Dame/Oklahoma, Texas A&M/Kansas
State and Ohio State/Penn State were predicted to garner their share of
attention. Of the three pairings mentioned immediately above, only one

Lions eliminated from playoff hunt By BARRY BURLESON Editor H.W. Byers couldn’t slow down the Falkner running machine Friday night. The Eagles, on a muddy field in Marshall County, had 314 yards rushing and downed the host Lions 54-22 in a Region 1-1A game. Full Story
Potts Camp runs well at Itawamba Invitational The
Potts Camp 2A cross country team ran in the Itawamba Invitational at
Fulton on October 6. It was a cold morning, but it must have been
exactly what the team needed, because several runners won T-shirts and
had personal best times. The Lady Cardinals ran with 1A-6A, and there were 72 runners. Full Story
Lady Pats second in tourney By BARRY BURLESON Editor The Marshall Academy Lady Patriots opened the basketball season last week with a second-place finish in their own tournament. Coach Craig Dailey’s varsity squad knocked off Tunica and Magnolia Heights before falling to Kirk in the championship game. Full Story
