Obituaries Barnett Cathey
Barnett Cathey,
49, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Byhalia, died Oct. 27, 2012, at
Baptist Hospital in Memphis. He was a retired truck driver. Services
will be held at 12 noon on Nov. 3 at Strickland United Methodist Church
in Byhalia, where he was a member. Burial will be in the church
cemetery. Rev. S.A. Phillips will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He
leaves his wife, Brenda Greer Cathey; three children, Kendal Barnett
Cathey, Raymond Cathey, Brandon Cathey, all of Memphis; four sisters,
Cynthia D. Malone of Holly Springs, Rhonda Levett Cathey, Kipey Hearn,
both of Byahlia, Twonda Cathey of Holly Springs; four brothers, Eddie
Cathey Jr. of Baltimore, Md., Shurnell Cathey of Washington, D.C.,
Jarvis Cathey of Holly Springs, Carson Cathey of Byhalia; and a

Malinda Dyer, 76, of Holly Springs, died Oct. 24, 2012, at Ashland
Health and Rehab. She was the widow of Lloyd Dyer and a Baptist. Services
were held at 3 p.m. on Oct. 28 at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Moscow,
Tenn. Burial was in the church cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was
in charge of arrangements. She leaves a son,
James Thomas Dyer of Holly Springs; two daughters, Teresa Malinda
Lambert of Holly Springs, Peggy Marie Kenyon of Lebanon, Tenn.; a
brother, Edward Henry Feathers of Somerville, Tenn.; five sisters,
Binnie Tice of Oakland, Tenn., Stella Watkins of Moscow, Tenn., Liz
Cannon, Carol Henry, both of Somerville, Tenn., Beverly Shubert of

F. Davis, 78, of Byhalia, died Oct. 22, 2012. He was a veteran of the
Korean War, retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, then later
in retirement, worked at Avis Car Rental. He was an active member of
the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Services were held at 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 25 at Brantley Funeral Home Chapel. He
leaves his wife of 51 years, Carolyn Davis; three children, Tonya
Capestany of Byhalia, Brookland Davis Jr. of Frisco, Tx., Teena Mead of
Bartlett, Tenn.; siblings Pam Garrett, Kenneth Davis, Dale Seaton and
Bonnie Cappobianca; and five grandchildren. Helen Marie Joyner Helen Marie Joyner, 60, of Memphis, Tenn., died Oct. 21, 2012, at her home. She was a Baptist. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 26 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Southwoods Cemetery in Memphis. She
leaves her husband, Wilbur C. Joyner Jr.; two sons, William Joseph
Joyner of Memphis, Jeffrey Paul Joyner of Bartlett, Tenn.; three
daughters, Brandy Michelle Lebo of Southaven, Lisa Darlene Joyner of
Bartlett, Crystal Marie Joyner of Brighton, Tenn.; a brother, Charles
W. Akins of Olive Branch; two sisters, Margie Sanders and Mary Simmons,

Lynette Taylor, 75, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Marshall County,
died Oct. 26, 2012, at her home. A retired school teacher, she was a
member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Memphis. Graveside
services will be held at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Waterford at 11 a.m. on
Nov. 1 with Minister Lucille Jordan officiating. J.F. Brittenum and Son
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She
leaves a son, Rodney Manahan of Chicago, Ill.; a sister, Ferndale
Edwards, a brother, Alonzo Taylor, both of Chicago; three
grandchildren; one great-grandchild and caregivers, Vivian Walls and
Verneda Taylor, both of Holly Springs.
