Sealed proposals for the purchase of
one (1) Compact Truck Loader and Work Tool Attachments will be received
by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the City of Holly Springs,
Mississippi, in the office of the City Clerk of said City, in City
Hall, at 160 South Memphis Street in Holly Springs, Mississippi, until
the hour of 5:30 p.m., local time, November 06, 2012, at which time on
said date, all bids shall be publicly opened and read aloud in the
board room of said Mayor and Board of Aldermen.
No Bidder may withdraw a bid submitted
for a period of thirty (30) days after the date of opening such
bids. The City of Holly Springs reserves the right to reject
any and all bids and to waive any informalities therein.
Bid documents and Specifications are on
file at the Holly Springs Utility Department, 1050 Highway 4, East,
Holly Springs, Mississippi, and may be obtained therefrom.

RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND
BOARD OF ALDERMEN
OF THE TOWN OF BYHALIA, MISSISSIPPI
WHEREAS, at the request of
the Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Byhalia, a local and
private bill was passed by the Mississippi legislature at their 2012
Regular Session; and
WHEREAS, the bill was designated as
Senate Bill 3025 and titled as follows:
AN ACT TO AMEND CHAPTER 944, LOCAL AND
PRIVATE LAWS OF 2010, TO EXTEND THE REPEAL DATE FROM JULY 1, 2012, TO
JULY 1, 2016, ON THE LAW THAT AUTHORIZES THE TOWN OF BYHALIA,
MISSISSIPPI, TO IMPOSE A TAX UPON THE GROSS PROCEEDS OF ROOM RENTALS
FOR HOTELS OR MOTELS IN THE TOWN; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES; and
WHEREAS, the bill provides that
governing authorities of the Town of Byhalia shall adopt a resolution
declaring their intention to levy the tax, setting forth the amount of
the tax to be imposed, the date upon which the tax shall become
effective and calling for an election to be held on the
question. The bill further provides that the date of the
election shall be fixed in the resolution and notice of such intention
and the election shall be published once each week for at least three
(3) consecutive weeks in a newspaper published or having a general
circulation in the Town of Byhalia, with the first publication of the
notice to be made not less than twenty-one (21) days before the date
fixed in the resolution for the election and the last publication to be
made not more than seven (7) days before the election.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the
Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Byhalia, Mississippi, as
follows, to-wit:
1. The purpose of this resolution is to
declare the intention of the Town of Byhalia to levy the tax as
provided for in the legislature, House Bill 1597 and the amount of the
tax shall be $1.00 per room rental.
2. The tax shall become effective on
the 1st day of January, 2013.
3. The election as described herein
shall be held on the 20th day of November, 2012, at voting precinct
located at 161 Highway 309 South, Byhalia, Mississippi 38611.
4. All qualified electors of the Town
of Byhalia may vote and the ballots used in the election shall have
printed thereon a brief statement of the amount and purposes of the
proposed tax levy and the words “FOR THE TAX”, and on a separate line
“AGAINST THE TAX”, and the voters shall vote by placing a cross (X) or
check ()opposite their choice on the proposition.
5. The results of the
election shall be canvassed and certified and the town may levy the tax
if sixty percent (60%) of the qualified electors who vote in the
election vote in favor of the tax.
6. At least thirty (30) days
before the effective date of the tax provided in this section, the
governing authorities shall furnish to the State Tax Commission a
certified copy of the resolution evidencing the tax.
