Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce will host a member luncheon meeting
Thursday, Jan. 26, at Seafood Junction Too, located at Stonewall and
Highway 309 in Byhalia. The luncheon buffet
begins at 11:30 a.m. and the program at noon. The topic will be “Your
Health & Wellness.” Speakers and displays will be from Henry
Chiropractic Clinic, Byhalia Family Health Center and WorkOArt. The lunch fee for members is $5 per person with reservations and all others $10 each. Teen killed when automobile hit by train One
person was killed in a vehicle accident Friday while crossing the
railroad tracks at Hubbard Road at Highway 178 East, according to
coroner James Richard Anderson. Cleneisha
La’Shay Stigger, 19, of the Carey Chapel Road area near Mt. Pleasant,
was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner. He said the call to
the scene came in at 1:35 p.m. January 20. Stigger was ejected from the vehicle when it overturned after being struck by the train, he said. She was driving westbound on Hubbard Road when attempting to cross the tracks, Anderson said. Two safe following emergency landing The
pilot and a student in a 150 Cessna made a safe emergency landing on
East Cox Road Tuesday morning with no damage to the plane or injuries,
said Maj. Kelly McMillen with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office. The call for assistance came at about 10:35 a.m. The
pilot, Casey Lynn, with the Air Venture Flight Center in Olive Branch,
and student successfully landed the plane after experiencing mechanical
trouble, he said. Mechanics arrived at the scene to try and repair the
plane. Bart Jenkins named MA head football coach Bart Jenkins was named the head football coach at Marshall Academy Tuesday, according to headmaster Jane Hubbard. Jenkins,
already on the staff at MA as teacher, assistant football coach and
head baseball coach, will take over for Barrett Donahoe, who is going
to Heritage Academy.
