ObituariesAnnie Evelyn Culver Annie
Evelyn Culver, 84, of Waterford, died Aug. 20, 2012. She was the widow
of Robert Lee Culver Jr. and a member of Holly Hill Baptist Church. Services
were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 22 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Culver Family Cemetery in Waterford. Bro. Tony Roberts
and Bro. Danny Smithey officiated. She leaves two
sons, Clyde Culver, Calvin Culver, both of Waterford; three daughters,
Marie Palmer, Faye Holland, both of Waterford, Sandra Wilson of Mt.
Pleasant; a brother, J.W. Dempsey of McCool; two sisters, Mary Bell
Sisson of Louisville, Betty Sisson of McCool; 16 grandchildren, 23
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three sons, Lester Culver, David Culver, Leon Culver; and one grandchild, Karen Culver. were held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 1 at Emory Methodist Church, where she
was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bro. Burton and Bro.
Andy Skelton officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. She leaves her husband, Steve
Davis; a son, Charles Lanphere (Nikki) of Hernando; a daughter, Dusti
Yarbrough (Shane) of Baldwyn; her father, William A. Jones of Sesser,
Ill.; two brothers, Fred Jones of St. Louis, Mo., Arthur Jones of
Texas; three sisters, Lesia Valentine of Horn Lake, Laura Valentine of
Grand Junction, Colo., Misty Valentine of Nashville, Tenn.; and five
grandchildren. Pallbearers were Kenny Holbrook,
Jack Dennis, David Hill, Jacky Brown, Don Clark and Larry Lanphere.

Jannie
Lee Stewart Echols, 96, of Holly Springs, died Aug. 30, 2012, at her
home. The widow of Robert Echols, she was a member of Yarbrough Chapel
CME Church and a former church usher. Visitation is Sept. 5, 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home and on Sept. 6 from 10-10:55 a.m. at the church. Services
will be held at 11 a.m. on Sept. 6 at Chulahoma MB Church with burial
in the church cemetery. Rev. Tony Wilkins will officiate. J.F.

leaves five daughters, Mary Echols, Iola Rayford, Dorothy Echols, all
of Aurora, Ill., Thelman Martin, Annie Jones-Davis of Holly Springs;
five sons, R.J. Echols of Syracuse, N.Y., Morris Echols, Bobby Lee
Echols, John Herbert Echols of Holly Springs, John Wesley Echols of
Sacramento, Ca.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and
great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Curtis Echols, Roosevelt Echols and a brother, Joseph Stewart. Lori Ann Hale McKee
Lori Ann Hale McKee, 39, died Aug. 24, 2012. She was born Jan. 15, 1973, in Aurora, Ill. Services
were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 28 at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel of New
Albany. Burial was in Enterprise Cemetery in New Albany. She
leaves her husband, Scott McKee of Olive Branch; two children, Rebecca
Allison Warner of Southaven, Timothy Stephen Warner of Hernando; two
stepdaughters, Lenae McKee Price of Kentucky, Haley McKee of Southaven;
her parents, Johnny and Kathryn Hale of Potts Camp; a sister, Karen
Renna Nash of Colorado; a brother, James Mike (Tammy) Hale of
Hernando; grandparents Opal Grose of Iuka and Mollie Peidlow of
Florida; and a grandson. William Henry Moore William
Henry Moore, 89, of Holly Springs, died Aug. 26, 2012, at his home. He
was the widower of Romell Williams Moore. He was a member of Jordan
Temple Baptist Church in Red Banks, a U.S. Army veteran of World War
II, a Tuskegee Airman and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Services
were held at 12 noon on Sept. 1 at Pleasant Hill CME Church in Mt.
Pleasant. Burial was at 1 p.m. on Sept. 4 in West Tennessee Veterans
Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn. Bishop Earnest Jordan Jr. officiated. J.F.

leaves five daughters, Betty Jordan of Olive Branch, Burnette Moore of
Memphis, Carrie Dunlap, Shirley Ahmed, Justine Owens, all of Holly
Springs; two sons, Oscar Moore of Red Banks, William Moore Jr. of
Memphis; a sister, Rev. Clara Love of Rossville, Tenn.; 23
grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Judge Brenda Franklin and Mary Fields. Casey Powell
Casey Powell, 52, of Holly Springs, died Aug. 29, 2012, at his home. Services
were held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 5 at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home
Chapel with burial in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Tracy Jeffries
officiated. He leaves his wife, Cornelia Harris
Powell; two children, Diane Powell of Holly Springs, Monique Powell of
Horn Lake; his mother, Everlena Powell of Holly Springs; a step-son,
Frank Harris of Oxford; two sisters, Carrie Mae Sharp of Holly Springs,
Jerlean Powell of Memphis, Tenn.; four brothers, Leon Powell of
Waterford, Willie Powell of Holly Springs, Issac Powell of North
Carolina, Amos Powell of Memphis; and a grandson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Powell.
