Watching the weather
Typically, I’m not much of a weather watcher.
But that changed last week, as Hurricane Isaac moved toward land.
The Preacher’s Corner
Frank Swords – a life well lived
We gathered at Marshall Academy last Wednesday to pay tribute to Frank Swords. I said then it was the first funeral I had ever been part of where the minister and pallbearers had an actual discussion whether we should wear dark suits or overalls! There was lots of teasing about this by subsequent speakers, but it all underscored the fact that we were there to mark the life of a much-beloved person in the life of our town.
Letters to The Editor
Thanks for support
I want to thank you and Sue Watson for covering the events and meetings of the Byhalia Area Chamber of Commerce for the past several years.
As the recent article on the “Supervisors want a county Chamber” stated, “we got more than we bargained for,” but maybe it was a good deal, especially for Marshall County to be aware of the Chamber’s mission for the past 24 years. The supervisors have been very open and supportive. I would like to thank them. One of the goals they set by a motion is to get people together to talk and discuss the future.
