Lee “Bud” Childress Jr., 71, of Holly Springs, died Aug. 9, 2012, at
North West Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale. He was a
member of New Hope CME Church in Red Banks, and he was disabled. Services
were held at 12 noon on Aug. 17 at Providence MB Church in Holly
Springs. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Alonzo Johnson
officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. He leaves three sisters, Climbra
Jane Hampton (Freddie Louis) of Holly Springs, Darlene Malike
(Malikulmulk) of Detroit, Mich., Janet Harris (Malcolm) of
Fayetteville, N.C.; a brother, Alfred Glenn Childress of Clinton; and
an aunt, Versia McGhee of Holly Springs. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee “Bobby” Childress. Annie Evelyn Culver Annie
Evelyn Culver, 84, of Waterford, died Aug. 20, 2012. She was the widow
of Robert Lee Culver Jr. and a member of Holly Hill Baptist Church. Services
were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 22 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial was in Culver Family Cemetery in Waterford. Bro. Tony Roberts
and Bro. Danny Smithey officiated. She leaves
two sons, Clyde Culver, Calvin Culver, both of Waterford; two
daughters, Marie Palmer, Faye Holland, both of Waterford; a brother,
J.W. Dempsey of McCool; three sisters, Mary Bell Sisson of Louisville,

Charles Glenwood “Pete” Fisher, 75, died Aug. 15, 2012, in Byhalia. He served in the Korean Conflict in the United States Army. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 19 at High Point Funeral Home and Crematorium. He
leaves his wife, Ethel Reed Fisher; three sons, Chris, David and Danny
(Christina) Fisher; two sisters, Mary Jonakin, Margie Strain; two
brothers, Bill and Ricky Gibson; seven grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bo and Don Gibson. Charles H. Patton Jr. Charles
H. “Chuck” Patton Jr., 51, of Byhalia, died Aug. 10, 2012, at Methodist
University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a broker for Van Court
Realtors. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Aug.
15 at Maples Memorial United Methodist Church in Olive Branch. Burial
was in Forest Hill Cemetery South. Forest Hill Funeral Home South was
in charge of arrangements. He leaves his parents, Charles and Doris Patton of Byhalia; and his sister, Carol (James) Whittington of Mt. Juliet, Tenn. The

Society, Marshall County Animal Rescue, DeSoto County Animal Rescue or
Maples Memorial United Methodist Church. Danny Lanier Simpson Danny
Lanier Simpson, 71, died Aug. 13, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in
Memphis, Tenn. He was a merchant and a farmer for many years. He was a
member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Services
were held at 2 p.m. on Aug. 16 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel.

leaves his wife of 48 years, Joyce Mathis Simpson; a son, Kevin Simpson
(Cindy) of Ashland; a daughter, Dawn Larson (Keith) of Oxford; a
sister, Vonnell Miller (Ed); and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nona Estes. In
