New weight limits posted on Cayce By SUE WATSON New weight limits have been posted on Cayce Road from the segment at Highway 178 to Highway 302. The Marshall County Board of Supervisors clarified that the new weight limits – 57,650 pounds – do not apply to vehicles carrying agricultural products harvested in the county and taken to market, according to state law. Nor will the limits be applied to Cayce Road beyond Highway 302 which feeds into the Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park. Tallahatchie
bridge ‘structurally deficient’ By ALYSSA

While it’s often the subject of a photographer’s camera, the odd-looking truss bridge on Highway 7 that crosses the Tallahatchie River will soon be replaced with a less interesting-looking – albeit more functional – safer bridge.
Byhalia police go to 39 calls The Byhalia Police Department responded to 39 calls during the past week. Chief Gary Looney released the following report – alarm calls, 2; miscellaneous, 11; escorts, 3; disturbances, 4; domestic, 1; animals, 2; assists, 3; motor vehicle accidents, 1; fires, 1; and medical, 11. Byhalia police officers also made four arrests during the past week, according to Chief Looney. Holly Springs
police respond to 94 calls Holly Springs police officers responded to 94 calls last week, according to interim police chief Lt. John Norman. Calls included – disturbances, 5; alarms, 15; larcenies, 5; accidents, 4; assists to agencies, 5; assaults, 1; burglaries, 2; funeral escorts, 4; domestics, 4; 911 hang-ups, 2; malicious mischief, 3; auto burglaries, 6; and 38 miscellaneous calls. The dog catcher took 16 calls.
