Obituaries Bonnie June Kirk Ayres
Bonnie
June Kirk Ayres, 84, of Hickory Flat, died July 30, 2012, at Baptist
East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Minor Lanier
Ayres, her husband of 57 years. She was a graduate of the University of
Mississippi and taught third and fifth grades in Ashland from 1953 to
1957. In 1957, she was named director of public welfare for Benton
County by Governor J.P. Coleman. In the late 1970s, she was named to
the State Board of Mental Health. She retired in 1985 after 31 years of
services. Services were held at 4 p.m. on Aug.
2 at Hickory Flat United Methodist Church, where she was a member for
more than 60 years. Burial was in McKay Cemetery in Hickory Flat. Rev.
Brownie Tohill and Rev. Neal Vick officiated. Holly Springs Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements. She leaves a
son, Jimmy Kirk Ayres; a daughter, Barbara Ayres Bradford (Warner); a
brother, Samuel Brent Kirk (Jeanette); twin sisters, Nina Kiddy, Norma
Rooker (Jimmy); five granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Theresa Kent Ayres, Bonnie
Ayres Moffitt; two brothers, Nathan Abston Kirk (LaJune), Ralph Craig
Kirk (Yvonne); and a sister, Betty Kirk King. Pallbearers were Charlie Ballard, Chuck Gadd, Jack Gadd, George Rowland, Don Taylor and Randy Walls. Jean Berryhill, 82, of Potts Camp, died Aug. 4, 2012, at her home. She
was the widow of Floyd Thomas Berryhill. She attended Cornersville
United Methodist Church. Services were held at 2

Alejandro Rosas Guzman, 20, of Oxford, died August 5, 2012 in Holly
Springs. He was a member of St. Frances Catholic Church in New Albany
and a cook at El Nopalito in Holly Springs. Services will be held at 6 p.m. on Aug. 8 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Hill Crest Cemetery. He
leaves his wife, Melissa Guzman; a son, Julian Alejandro Rosas of
Oxford; his mother, Maria Guzman of Oxford; his father, Miguel Rosas of
Jalisco, Mexico; four brothers, Edwardo Rosas, Martin Guzman, Christian
Guzman, Oscar Guzman, all of Oxford; and two sisters, Mirian Guzman and

Rowland Hoff, 94, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Ashland, died Aug. 4,
2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. She was the widow of Hollis

Curtis Johnson, 44, of Memphis, Tenn., died July 8, 2012, in Memphis.
He was a member of Harris Chapel United Methodist Church in Michigan
City. He was an employee of River City Dental Lab in Memphis. Services

Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis. Rev. William V. Kemp

B. Neal, 66, of Potts Camp, died Aug. 3, 2012, at Sanctuary Hospice
House in Tupelo. He was a former employee at Apac in Tennessee. Graveside

Oliver Seay of Memphis, Tenn., died July 21, 2012, at Methodist Central
Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was the widower of Martha Elizabeth
Beard. He was a member of St. Mark MB Church, later joining Temple of
Christ Baptist Church. Services were held at
2:30 p.m. on July 28 at Temple of Christ Baptist Church. Rev. Carol
Brown, pastor. Rev. Gipton Jones officiated. Burial was in Charity Hill

Pearlie Beard, Linda Brown, both of Memphis; a brother, Leo Seay of
Aurora, Ill.; 20 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five siblings, Cleo Seay, Eliza Denton, Lillie Mae White, Ruben Seay Jr. and Connie Lee Dilworth. Pallbearers
were Dirk Winters, Anthony Jenkins, Jonathan Howard, Rodney Linsay,
Gary Johnson and Anthony Jeffries. Honorary pallbearers were Quaton

Rev.
Dr. Richard Fenton Wicker Jr., 83, died July 29, 2012. He was a naval
aviator, chaplain, pastoral counselor and author. He was a native of
Benton County. He was the president of his class at Potts Camp High
School for four years and co-valedictorian. He was also regional
president of the Future Farmers of America and the 4-H club for several
years. He was a night attack pilot during the Korean War, flying 39
sorties off several aircraft carriers. He was a proud member of the
Chosin Few Association. After serving as pastor to several churches in
Texas and north Mississippi, he returned to the Navy as a Navy
chaplain. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp, including two stints with
the 3rd Marine Division in Okinawa. In 1975, he was stationed at the
Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Va., and in 1979 was assigned as
senior chaplain at the Oceana Naval Air Station in Virginia Beach, Va.
He retired from the Navy as a captain in 1983 and began a second career
as a pastoral counselor with Tidewater Pastoral Counseling Services. He
was a member of the Norfolk Suburban chapter of the Lions Club, serving
as president from 1976 to 1977. He was president of the Descendants of
Ancients Planters and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution,
the Jamestown Society and the Descendants of House of Burgesses. He
leaves his wife of 59 years, Louise Zeller Wicker; sons Richard,
Stephen, David; his brother, William Walter Wicker; and five
grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lions Club International Foundation.
