Five arrested following home invasion By SUE WATSON An Early Grove Road resident and three children were the victims of a home invasion July 25, according to sheriff Kenny Dickerson. He said three males knocked on the door of the victims’ home about 10 p.m. Wednesday, with one falsely identifying himself as a family member. One of the victims opened the door.
Joseph Ford’s legacy: education of children By SUE WATSON Joseph H. Ford Jr. will be remembered for his love of learning and his dedication to the education of children, said his friend, Mozell Kelley. Ford, 82, died Tuesday, July 24.
Byhalia police go to 35 calls The Byhalia Police Department responded to 35 calls during the past week. Chief Gary Looney released the following report – alarm calls, 2; miscellaneous, 9; escorts, 3; disturbances, 5; motor vehicle accidents, 3; medical, 8; vehicle theft, 1; and recovered stolen vehicle, 4. Byhalia police officers also made 17 arrests during the past week.
Holly Springs police make six felony arrests Officers with the Holly Springs Police Department responded to 108 calls last week, according to interim police chief Lt. John Norman. City opens bids By SUE WATSON The City of Holly Springs opened bids for property insurance and group health insurance during the July 17 meeting. Only one bidder submitted quotes on each product. The health insurance package also included a bid for a bridge plan that helps reduce the deductible and ultimately decrease the overall cost of health insurance coverage and supplemental coverage for employees. The plans were for Holly Springs Utility Department employees and their families.
