Patriots improve to 21-3 By BARRY BURLESON Editor Back in early December the Marshall Academy varsity boys struggled to beat Oak Hill by six – not the second time around. The Patriots tipped off a 3-0 week with a 70-24 rout of the Raiders January 10 at home. “The
first time they caught us just out of football, and we looked like a
baby catfish on the hook,” coach Craig Dailey said. “I think they

Holly High drops pair to Olive Branch; splits with Belmont By CLAUDE VINSON Sports Editor At the very start of the Holly High-Olive Branch girls’ game on January 10, both squads appeared a bit on edge and unsteady. The
Lady Conquistadors were picking up the Lady Hawks full court. They were
forcing them into multiple turnovers. Holly High was not getting many
opportunities to establish an offense. All the breaks were going to
Olive Branch. While the Lady ’Quistors didn’t score a boat load of

‘This is blessed ground’ • Basketball game raises funds for village Guns
and Hoses basketball teams recently presented a check for $970 and a
30-gallon can of nonperishable food to New Hope Village homeless
shelter. On hand to receive the check was
director of the village, Marilyn Curry, who thanked the Holly Springs
firefighters (Hoses) and sheriff’s department and city police
