OpinionFielder’s Choice Crimson memories Last week many friends greeted me with, “Congratulations.” That’s because they know of my love for the Alabama Crimson Tide, and they, too, saw ’Bama blank SEC rival LSU in the BCS National Championship game Monday night, Jan. 9. Close to Nowhere Can’t find re-run column I was trying to cheat on my column this week -- I decided I’d go back a few years and find an appropriate column to rerun. It’s apparently not going to work. I read through about three months’ worth of old columns (in The South Reporter archives on our website -- www.southreporter.com) and all I did was waste time. Supreme Court case on Obamacare could be landmark U.S. Senator Before the end of its term this year, the Supreme Court is expected to make a major ruling on whether the President’s health-care law violates the Constitution by requiring every American to buy health insurance. The case is one of the biggest legal challenges in recent memory and promises to be a pivotal moment in the effort to repeal the entire Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which has drawn resounding criticism since it became law nearly two years ago. Letter To The Editor Remembering Martin In recognition of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, I just wanted in a small way to recognize a man of integrity, determination and honor. If he was alive today I would send him this letter. Unfortunately, he is no longer here, but his spirit dwells in the hearts and souls of people all over this nation.
Hometown Heroes Now that many of our local “heroes,” who have/are serving in Iraq are coming home or leaving the active war zones, we’d like to welcome them home. If you’d like to help welcome home our military personnel, please get their names to The South Reporter for the new list. Supporting Our Troops If you’d like to add a name to the list, please contact The South Reporter, Attn. Linda Jones, P.O.
