• County players contribute to AAU tournament title

A
group of basketball players, including five from Marshall County,
recently put Mississippi in the national spotlight.
The
Mississippi Glory won the Adidas national championship in Louisville,
Ky. Members of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) 17 and under team
include Kavaci-A Johnson and Shandricka Sessom, both from Byhalia, and
Sha’Dae Nolen, Justice Martin and Precious Rogers, all of H.W. Byers.
Martin did not play in the national tournament due to her participation
last week in the Mississippi Association of Coaches All-Star Game.

Usain Bolt losing in a pair of Olympic trials in Jamaica and patiently
waiting for some politician to utter the words, “I am Joe Candidate and

Rodeo this weekend
The 28th annual Knotty Bolden Memorial Rodeo will be held July 20-21 at 8 p.m. The
rodeo, produced by J Bar B Rodeo Co., will be held at the Knotty Bolden
Memorial Arena on Highway 7, six miles north of Holly Springs. Tickets are $8, ages 10 and older; $6, ages 4-9; and free, ages 3 and under. The
Rugrats, a Potts Camp coach-pitch ages 6 and under team, had a great
2012 season. The Rugrats went undefeated and received first-place
trophies for the preseason tournament, the regular season and the
