Balfour, 83, of Holly Springs, died June 26, 2012, at Trinity Mission
Health & Rehab. He was a member of Anderson Chapel CME Church and a

leaves his wife, Marlene Lovelady Balfour; two daughters, Yolanda

Elliott Clark, 73, of Byhalia, died June 12, 2012, at her home. She was
the widow of Clifton E. Clark. She lived in South Jordan, Utah, for 33
years, then moved to Byhalia. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on June 18 at Memorial Estates, West Jordan. She leaves a daughter, Julie Ann Viger (Matt); five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela; two brothers, Tom and Mick; and a daughter, Jenny Lynne. Johnnie Vernon Coker Johnnie Vernon Coker, 74, of Ashland, died June 29, 2012. He was a lieutenant in the Memphis, Tenn., fire department. Services

Margaret-Rose Elliott, 19, of Humboldt, Tenn., formerly of Ashland,
died June 27, 2012, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.
She was a 2011 graduate of Humboldt High School and a direct support
professional with Omni Visions. Services were
held at 3 p.m. on June 1 at Mt. Zion CME Church in Ashland, where she

HealthCare System in Holly Springs. A retired laborer, he was a member
of Mt. Peel MB Church in Laws Hill. Services were

Jean Duncan Jones, 38, of Holly Springs, died June 19, 2012 at North
Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was a former employee of
Corky’s in Collierville, Tenn.; a 1991 graduate of Holly Springs High
School and a 2010 graduate of Concorde Career College as a pharmacy
tech. She was a member of Abundant Truth Salt and Light Ministries in
Oxford. Services were held at 1 p.m. on June 28
at New Dimension Salt and Light Ministries in Holly Springs, pastored
by Octavius Allen; eulogy by Pastor Shelby Washington. Burial was in
Pleasant Grove MB Church Cemetery in Red Banks. Serenity Funeral Home
was in charge of arrangements. She leaves her
husband Gary Jones of Memphis, Tenn.; three children, Kendrick Duncan,
Krishona Duncan and Gabriesha Jones, all of Holly Springs; her mother
and father, Willie Evan Duncan and Curtis Collins, both of Holly
Springs; a brother, Antonio Duncan; a sister, Rochelle Duncan, both of
Holly Springs; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a very special person, her grandmother, Lula Mae Duncan. Pallbearers
were Kendrick Duncan, Charles Duncan, Curtis Summerlars, Lawrence
Wilson, Antonio Duncan, Stanley Duncan, Robert Pegues, Fredrick Wilson.

E. Powell, 66, died June 28, 2012, at his home in Byhalia. He was the
widower of Kathy. He retired from Bellsouth and The Communications
Workers of America after serving as state director for 34 years. He
served as the executive vice president of the MS AFL-CIO. After
retirement he served as the chairman of the MS Employment Security
Commission. He was active in the Democratic party serving as chairman
of the Marshall County Democratic party, he was a member of the State
Democratic Executive Committee and served on the DNC as the National
Committeeman of MS. Services were held at 10
a.m. on July 2 at First Baptist Church in Byhalia. Brantley Funeral
Home was in charge of arrangements. He leaves a
son, Mike (Debbie) House; a daughter, Linda McPhail; two sisters,
Patricia Gallaher and Donna Bourne; five grandchildren and five

Walker Skelton, 88, of Lamar, died June 29, 2012 at Baptist DeSoto
Hospital in Southaven. A farmer, he was a member of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Services
were held at 5 p.m. on July 2 at Holly Springs Funeral Home with burial
in the John C. Skelton Cemetery in Lamar. Bishop Michael Roland
officiated. He leaves his wife, Myrtis Jewell
Allen Skelton; a brother, James Curtis Skelton of Lamar; and three
sisters, Dale Kahler of Memphis, Tenn., Martha Allen of Lamar, Addie
