Community NewsPotts Camp News Mary Minor Potts Camp’s annual school reunion well attended It
was an honor to have as keynote speaker at the 23rd annual Potts Camp
School Reunion on Sat., June 2, former State Senator, Circuit Judge and
World War II veteran Fred Wicker of Pontotoc. He entertained the crowd
with his many stories about growing up in Hickory Flat and his memories
of this area. Also, he told about the many people he knew from Potts
Camp. He is the father of U.S. Congressman Roger Wicker. Emcee was Mitch Stone, who provided music throughout the day. A
total of 108 former students and guests attended this year’s reunion.

Morris, Mary R. (Gurley) Minor, and Lula Turnage. The Class of 1962 was honored for their fiftieth anniversary. Ten of the 16 remaining students were in attendance. A
wonderful lunch consisting of baked chicken and fish, green beans,
baked potatoes, salad and tea was furnished by Jo Ann Mayer and Lula
Turnage with the assistance of Edna Faye Goode. An assortment of
desserts was made by Lurline Kimery, Joan Gurley and Mary Minor. These
consisted of coconut cakes, caramel cake, chocolate and caramel pies,
brownies, and Graham Cracker Fluff. Now is the
time to place the date for next year’s reunion on your calendar.
Remember, it is always held the first Saturday in June each year. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year and also some new attendees.
