City police go to 117 calls Holly Springs police officers took 117 calls last week, according to interim chief John Norman. Calls
included the following – disturbances, 6; alarms, 13; larcenies, 4;
accidents, 3; assists to agencies, 8; domestics, 4; assaults, 3;
funeral escorts, 4; burglaries, 2; welfare checks, 2; shots fired, 1;
malicious mischief, 2; and 65 miscellaneous calls. The dog catcher
responded to 10 calls. Officers took the following reports: Monday, June 18 • lost wallet in the 100 block of Heritage Drive. Tuesday, June 19 • malicious mischief in the area of Sam Coopwood Park. Thursday, June 21 • shoplifting, second offense, in the 900 block of Mackie Drive. Charges were filed. • shoplifting in the 900 block of Mackie Drive. An arrest was made. Friday, June 22 • phone harassment in the Market Street area. • residential burglary in the 300 block of Highland Terrace. • shoplifting in the 900 block of Mackie Drive. An arrest was made. Saturday, June 23 • grand larceny in the 100 block of South Craft Street. • possession of contraband in a correctional facility in the 800 block of West Street. Two arrests were made. • forgery in the 500 block of Swaney Drive. Officers made two felony arrests. Dorothy
F. Starks, 26, of the 700 block of 111th Street, Amory, was arrested
and charged with possession of contraband (marijuana) in a correctional
facility, Norman said. Lena A. Davis, 59, of the
2300 block of Douglas Drive, Starkville, was arrested and charged with
possession of contraband (marijuana) in a correctional facility, Norman
said. Officers reported the following citations –
speeding, 1; disregard for traffic device, 1; no/expired driver’s
license, 1; no proof of liability insurance, 1; public profanity, 1;
loud music, 1; handicap parking, 1. The following
misdemeanor arrests were reported – contempt of court, 3; threat, 1;
shoplifting, 1; receiving embezzled goods, 1; driving while license
suspended/no proof of liability insurance/no/expired tag, 1; DUI
refusal/no/expired driver’s license, 1. Dog tags
