R. Benford Brown, 96, died June 2, 2012. She worked in the Sunday
school, the choir and the Missionary Society. She was employed for 22
years with Collierville Care Inn in Collierville, Tenn. She ran a small
convenience store at her home. Services were
held at 12 noon on June 9 at Newell Chapel Christian Methodist
Episcopal Church, Byhalia, where she was a member. Rev. Charles LeSure
is pastor; Rev. Spencer Mathis officiated. Burial was in the church
cemetery. Harrison’s Funeral Home, Memphis, Tenn., was in charge of
arrangements. She leaves her sister, who was her
caregiver, LaVerne Jones of Holly Springs; nine grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, James Anderson Hull, and her brother, George Benford. Pallbearers
were Milton Benford, Allen Hull, Alfonzo Hull Sr., Corey Hull, Jeremy
Hull, Daniel Owens and Jobe Owens. Honorary pallbearers were her

Lee Higgins Jr., 63, of Holly Springs, died June 16, 2012, at Baptist
DeSoto Hospital in Southaven. He was a data processor. Graveside
services were held at 10 a.m. on June 19 at Hill Crest Cemetery. Holly
Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He
leaves his wife, Marilyn Kay Higgins; a daughter, Christina Cole of
West Plains, Mo.; a brother, Charles Edward Higgins of Holly Springs; a
sister, Ann Marie Danner Wiegand of Morton, Ill.; and four

Lawanda Diane Jones, 37, died June 9, 2012. She was a member of Land Mark Temple in Holly Springs. Services
were held at 10 noon on June 16 at Concord MB Church in Slayden. Pastor
Clyde Williams was eulogist. Rev. Willie Huey officiated. Burial was in
the church cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of
arrangements. She leaves two sons, Michael M.
Jones, Antwan M. Jones; her mother, Diane (Terrance) Kimmons; her
father, Larry Joe Jones; grandmother, Annie Beard; four brothers,
Tracey L. Jones, Marco Jones, Courtney Jones, Corey Jones; and a
sister, Lolita Williams. Pallbearers were Robert
Faulkner, Rico McKinney, Danny Jones, Glenn Buntyn, Kyle McCommon and

Mae Bowens Lemons, 92, of Holly Springs, died June 13, 2012, at Trinity
Mission Health & Rehab. She was a member of Mt. Peel MB Church in
Laws Hill and a retired laborer with Proctor & Gamble in Chicago,
Ill. Services were held at 2 p.m. on June 17 at
J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Cottrell
Memorial Garden. Evangelist Tarsha Mosley officiated. She leaves a daughter, Clara M. Mosley of Holly Springs; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Sue Richmond. Margaret E. (Brown) McNatt Margaret
E. (Brown) McNatt, 82, of Ripley, died June 13, 2012, at her home. She
was the widow of Elvis E. McNatt, who died June 8, 1982. She was a
Baptist. She was a retired restaurateur and industrial executive cook. Services were held at 11:30 a.m. on June 15 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment was in Memorial Park Mausoleum. She
leaves a daughter, Tawana (McNatt) Neal (Chip) of Ripley; a son, Tony
McNatt of Ripley; a stepdaughter, Linda Brucks (Eddie) of Little Rock,
Ark.; a sister, Dorothy Beaumont of Tucson, Ariz.; special caregivers
Linda Hutchins, Glenda Decanter, Linda Green; six grandchildren and

Lewis Malone, 52, of Holly Springs, died June 17, 2012, at Baptist
Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a former laborer for
Whitlock Construction Company. Visitation will be June 22, 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home and June 23, 10-10:55 a.m. at the church. Services
will be held at 11 a.m. on June 23 at New Hope CME Church in Red Banks,
where he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev.
Doris Alexander will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is
in charge of arrangements. He leaves a brother,
Ezekiel Malone Jr. of Holly Springs, and six sisters, Mable Lester,
Virginia Ivy, both of Corinth, Deneice Finley of Irving, Tx., Channie
Grimes of Aurora, Ill., Earlene Hearn and Josie Malone, both of Holly
Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezekiel and Magnolia Malone, and a brother, Joseph Richmond. Howard Richmond Jr.

Richmond Jr., 48, of Olive Branch, died June 12, 2012, at Baptist
Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. He was a maintenance worker with S &
H Grocer in Olive Branch. Services were held at 3
p.m. on June 16 at Antioch MB Church in Red Banks. Burial was in
McCraven Cemetery in Victoria. Rev. Kenneth Artison officiated. J.F.
Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He
leaves a daughter, Tonya Brown of Memphis, Tenn.; his mother, Vera
Taylor Richmond of Olive Branch; four sisters, Vivian Richmond, Carolyn
Richmond, both of Olive Branch, Loraine Jones of Byhalia, Verna
Sutherland of Memphis, Tenn.; three brothers, Marvin Richmond, Narvin
Richmond, both of Olive Branch, Lynnwood Richmond of Olive Branch; and
two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Johnson Richmond; and a brother, Mark Richmond.
