Successful Potts Camp coach retires

Karen Green, Potts Camp athletic director, retired in May after 20 years with the Marshall County School District.
During her career, she was part of a very successful athletic department, one which she helped to grow and expand.Under Green’s direction, the following programs were established – slow pitch softball, fast pitch softball, cross country, track and field, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, athletic banquet, and the Athletic Booster Club.

Spring and summer basketball continues at the campus of H.W. Byers High School.
Jason Thompson, head coach of the Lady Lions, invited a large number of teams from the bi-state area to a three-day event, which encompassed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of last week.

The conference finals turned a little sour for yours truly last week when half of my prediction was banished.
With the defeat of the San Antonio Spurs by the OKC Thunder, the rafters shook a little. Not taking anything away from the Thunder, it was inconceivable that the Spurs would be taken out in less than seven games.
‘Bubba Ball’ is back at Northwest

Two weeks after announcing that Jimmy Adams’ contract as head men’s basketball coach would not be renewed, athletic director Cameron Blount announced Thursday the hiring of former head coach Don “Bubba” Skelton to take over the program.
