The Marshall County Sports Association is in the midst of another great baseball and softball season. This year’s Dizzy Dean league includes 44 teams, ranging from ages 3 through 18 with approximately 575 participants. They come from the communities of Byhalia, Holly Springs, Potts Camp, Hickory Flat and beyond. Full Story

MA Patriots enjoy productive spring By BARRY BURLESON Editor Marshall Academy had just five days of spring football practice but new head coach Bart Jenkins said it was plenty. “All
five days were extremely productive,” said Jenkins, who is stepping up
from his role as assistant coach the past two seasons. “A lot of people
shoot for different things in the spring. I like to focus on
terminology and the basics of what we’re trying to do, and I feel we
got everything done that we needed.” Full Story
Ole Miss Lady Rebs hosting camps The new Ole Miss women’s basketball coaching staff announces several camps this summer. Team
camp is set for June 10-11. It is open to varsity, junior varsity and
AAU teams. Cost is $125 per player overnight (includes meals and
housing) and $105 per player commuter (no housing). Full Story

MA baseball camp June 7-8 The Marshall Academy baseball coaching staff will host a baseball camp June 7-8 for upcoming third through seventh graders. Hours are 8:30 a.m. until noon that Thursday and Friday, and the cost is $40 per camper. Full Story
Football camp set for June 8-9 The second annual Lester/Rice Youth Football Camp is scheduled for June 8-9 at Marshall Academy in Holly Springs. The camp is hosted by former Ole Miss Rebels Brian Lester and Eric Rice. It
will also feature Terrence Metcalf, an Ole Miss All-American and
seven-year NFL veteran, and Derrick Burgess, former Ole Miss defensive
end and two-time NFL pro bowler. Full Story
Patriot football camp starts Monday The Marshall Academy football coaching staff will host a football camp June 4-6 for upcoming first-sixth graders. Hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon next Monday through Wednesday, and the cost is $60 per camper. Instructors will include MA coaches and current players. Full Story

MDWFP investigates fish kill at Sardis Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks biologists recently responded to fish kill reports at Sardis Lake. Several
shoreline areas were examined around the lake. The kill was over 97
percent white bass. An estimated 73,510 white bass died. Full Story
