Obituaries

Lois Helen Anderson

Lois Helen Anderson, 80, of Mt. Pleasant, died May 21, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Clifton Douglas Anderson. She was retired from Carrier Corp. She was a member of Carey Chapel Church.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on May 23 at Carey Chapel Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves a son, Doug Anderson (Ann) of Pontotoc; two daughters, Patricia Marley of Mt. Pleasant, Phyllis Hughes (Charles “Sandy”) of Cordova, Tenn.; two brothers, James “Bo” McClure (Judy), Melton McClure (Linda), both of Mt. Pleasant; a sister, Margie Byrd (Carnell); 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a grandchild, Kenneth Shane Foster.

Dewayne M. Campbell

Dewayne M. Campbell, 24, of Byhalia, died May 21, 2012, at his home. He was a 2006 graduate of Byhalia High School.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 26 at Mt. Sinai COGIC in Mt. Pleasant, where he was a member. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves a son, Kaelib Dewayne Campbell of Waterford; his mother, Lenora (Dennis) Lesure; stepfather, Bobby Lee Smith; a brother, Corrico Campbell of Holly Springs; four sisters, Lemonica Campbell, Sophia Tyson, both of Byhalia, Lemyia Campbell of Holly Springs, Latonya Moore of Memphis, Tenn.; three half sisters, Debra Rooks, Vernola Jones, Teresa Thomas, all of Red Banks; his grandmother, Janie S. Campbell of Holly Springs; his grandfather, George (Azzie) Norman of South Carolina; a special friend, Samantha Jeffries and her son, Kamdon Glover.

He was preceded in death by his father, Freddie “Pot” Moore.

Shirley Glass Hannah

Shirley Glass Hannah, 65, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died May 20, 2012, at Methodist Hospice House in Memphis.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. on May 25 at Hill Crest Cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves four sisters, Maxine Freeman, Annie Rice, both of Memphis, Tommie Glover of Chicago, Ill., and Patricia Hannah of Holly Springs.

Ida Mae Edlin Hatler

Ida Mae Edlin Hatler, 91, of Laws Hill, died May 25, 2012, at her home. She was the widow of Artie Edlin and J.C. Hatler and a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ.

Services were held at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel on May 29 at 2 p.m. with burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Bro. Stephen Dickerson and Bro. Johnny Burkhart officiated.

She leaves two sons, Everette Edlin of Southaven, Darron Edlin of Nesbit; a stepson, Jim Hatler of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Bobbie Fesmire of Laws Hilll, Joan Edlin Johnson of Oxford; two sisters, Christine Smith of Senatobia, Virginia Williams of Tyro; 33 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Edlin, and a stepdaughter, June Hanson.

Debra Carol Jones

Debra Carol Jones, 55, of Byhalia, died May 23, 2012 at her home. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 26 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery in Hickory Flat. Bro. Jimmy Wilbanks officiated.

She leaves her husband, William Doyle Jones; two sons, William Jones (Lindy) of Byhalia, Timothy Lee Jones of Hickory Flat; a daughter, Angela James of Byhalia; her father, James Edward Smith of Southaven; her mother, Edna Lewis of Hickory Flat; two brothers, Gerald Smith, Charles Smith, both of Hickory Flat; and seven grandchildren.

David Todd McGregor

David Todd McGregor, 47, of Lennox, SD, died May 20, 2012, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was a Baptist and a welder.

Services were held at 1 p.m. on May 25 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery in Waterford. Bro. Tommy Shackelford officiated.

He leaves his father, David McGregor (Sandra) of Byhalia; two sons, Michael McGregor, Brian McGregor, both of Sioux Falls; three daughters, Caitlyn Trentman, Leann Trentman, Lindsey Trentman, all of Eudora; a sister, Amy Taylor of Louisiana; and two grandsons.

Carl Newton

Carl Newton, 65, of New Albany, died May 19, 2012, at Trinity Mission Health & Rehab in Holly Springs. He was a member of Watson Grove MB Church in New Albany.

Services were held at 3 p.m. on May 22 at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David Newton officiated.

He leaves two sisters, Virginia Smith of Chicago, Ill., Christine Newton of New Albany; two brothers, Joseph Newton of New Albany and David Newton of Miami, Fla.

James Ivory Norwood

James Ivory Norwood, 47, died May 17, 1965. He was a member of St. James COGIC of Ripley, under the leadership of superintendent Bernell Hoyle.

Services were held at Sandhill MB Church in Lamar. Rev. Etoy Bogard, pastor. Rev. Robert Brown officiated. Burial was in Jeffries Cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves two sisters, Mary Norwood (Charles) of Moscow, Tenn., and Alison Reaves of Holly Springs; two stepsisters and three stepbrothers.

Pallbearers were Arthur Peterson, Bobby Strickland, Walter Lane, Mack Gunn, James Peterson and Troy Brown. Honorary pallbearers were Shauntel Reaves, Tim Reaves, Roosevelt Reaves and James McKinney.

William Vance Walker Sr.

William Vance Walker Sr., 62, of Byhalia, died May 23, 2012, at his home. He was a Christian.

Services were held at 10 a.m. on May 26 at Olive Branch Christian Church in Olive Branch. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Pamela Walker; two sons, William “Billy” Walker Jr., James L. Walker (Tashia), both of Byhalia; a brother, Russell Walker (Carmen) of O’Fallen, Mo.; a sister, Sadie Wright Berry of Horn Lake; three grandchildren and a special friend, Betty Lou Harris of Byhalia.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Sam Walker.

John Nathan Wilson

John Nathan Wilson, 76, of Byhalia, died May 24, 2012, at his home. He was a member of Barton Baptist and a welder.

Services were held at 3 p.m. on May 26 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Barton Cemetery. Bro. Boyce Wilson officiated.

He leaves two sons, John Wayne Wilson of Ashland, Stevie Wilson (Jane) of Germantown, Tenn.; two daughters, Vera Wilson of Ashland, Ruthie Daugherty of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Charles Wilson of Ashland; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Betty Lou Harris of Byhalia.

George Edward Zinn

George Edward Zinn, 62, of Holly Springs, died May 19, 2012, at his home. He was a member of the church choir and a retired laborer with Marshall County.

Services were held at 12 noon on May 25 at Kimbrough Chapel MB Church, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. J.W. Smith officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves five sisters, Viola Hughes of Aurora, Ill., Susie Perkins, Catherine Zinn, Georgia Zinn, Linda Zinn, all of Holly Springs; and four brothers, John L. Zinn Jr. of Tupelo, Andrew Zinn of Olive Branch, Alfred Zinn of Holly Springs, Patrick Zinn of Aurora.

He was preceded in death by brothers Calvin Zinn and Darnell Zinn.
