From left are Lane Cunningham, Betty Rodgers, Andy Burleson, Gary Rodgers and Susan Rodgers. Cunningham and Burleson were presented the Mackey Rodgers Memorial Scholarship by the Rodgers family during the recent Marshall Academy Athletic Banquet.

Marshall Academy celebrated a successful year in athletics May 18 at the school’s annual sports banquet.

Honored with the Johnny Alldredge Spirit Award was Tyler Berry and receiving the George Hill Memorial Award was Emma Elgin.

Andy Burleson and Lane Cunningham were presented the Mackey Rodgers Memorial Scholarship.

Emma Elgin and Tyler Berry received the George Hill Memorial Award and the Johnny Alldredge Spirit Award, respectively.

Other award recipients were recognized in individual sports.

Soccer

• All-North State – M.C. Hutchens.

• Defensive MVP - Emma Elgin.

• Offensive MVP - Ashika Bhakta.

• Most Improved – Mayela Armendariz.

• Top Newcomer – Audrey Poole.

Softball

• MVP - Chelsey Gilliam.

• Offensive MVP – Kat Moore.

• Defensive MVP – Elizabeth Skelton, Darcie Gibson.

• Most Improved – Hannah Pasco, Caitlyn Brooks, Hailey McMinn.

• Most Coachable – Maura Autry, Samantha Paris.

• Rookie of the Year – Alexis McGreger.

• Hustle Award – Chloe Barrier.

• All-Conference – Chelsey Gilliam, Kat Moore, Elizabeth Skelton, Darcie Gibson.

Cheerleading

• Outstanding cheerleader – Emma Elgin.

• Senior plaques – Emma Elgin (six years), Brittany Stewart (two years), Courtney Hurdle (one year), Bailie Thompson (one year).
