Town of Byhalia sponsored its second annual 5K run/walk Saturday, May
5, to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The “Give Your Tush
A Push” 5K was a successful event with good participation. The winners
follow: male ages 13-up – first place, Seth Crain; second, Chad

Grayson signs with Mid-South By BARRY BURLESON Editor Quanisha Grayson will continue her basketball career at the college level, and her high school coach could not be happier. “Quanisha
is a phenomenal young woman,” said Renee Crenshaw, head coach of the
Byhalia Lady Indians. “She has overcome adversity. She will be a first
generation college student. Her motto is, ‘The difference between
impossible and possible lies within a person’s self determination.’” Full Story
Behind The Scoreboard By Claude Vinson Playoffs There
was, and still is, much speculation concerning the playoff run for the
Boston Celtics. They are having a terrible time with the Philly Sixers
(an eighth seed in these proceedings). The series has been reminiscent
of the battles of the old days when the teams had one great player
each, Larry Bird and Dr. J. Ervin. Going into Monday night’s game, the
series was tied at 2-2. Since the fifth and seventh (if there is one)
games are set for Boston, the majority of experts ( count me in) are
predicting that the pendulum will swing for the Shamrock Boys. Full Story

An
11-year-old student at Holy Family School won the Knights of Columbus
Annual Free Throw Tournament. Jakolby Bailey hit 19 of 25 free
throws on April 14 at Holy Family gym in the North Half State
Championship, hosted by Council #8760. When his score was
compare d to the winner from the South Half, his was
tops. Bailey’s score is now in New Haven, Connecticut, for judging at
the national/international level. Jakolby Bailey (far right) displays

Registration continues for men’s league The City of Holly Springs Parks and Recreation Department is registering for an adult men’s summer basketball league. The
entry fee is $200. Teams may register at city hall from 8 a.m. to 5
p.m. Monday through Friday. The registration deadline is Tuesday, May

Cardinals end spring practice with victories By BARRY BURLESON Editor The
Potts Camp football program itself is still young, but coach Shane
Stone will have experience on his side when a new season arrives. “The
experienced players we have coming back make things a lot easier than
past years,” said Stone, who started football from scratch at the

Youth basketball camp next week at Marshall Marshall Academy will host its Junior Patriot Basketball Camp next week, Tuesday, May 29, through Friday, June 1. The camp, led by head coach Craig Dailey, will include sessions for boys and girls, first grade through ninth grade. Full Story |
