Billy Benton Bennett

Billy Benton Bennett, 76, of Ashland, died May 20, 2012 at his home. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a roofer.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 23 at Ashland Church of Christ. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He leaves two sons, Billy Bruce Bennett of Byhalia, Jason Dewade Bennett of Michie, Tenn.; a daughter, Catina Isbell of Horn Lake; two brothers Melvin Bennett, Terry Bennett, both of Ashland; five sisters, Sadie Hudspeth of Senatobia, Mary V. Leonard, Tawanna Stevens, Linda Hughey, all of Ashland, Brenda Pannell of Southaven; and five grandchildren.

Charlotte Brown

Charlotte Brown, 81, of Red Banks, died May 18, 2012. She was the widow of Jefferson F. Brown Sr.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 22 at Bridgeway Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Bro. Gary Adams officiated. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves three sons, Jefferson F. Brown Jr., Clayton A. Brown, Douglas A. Brown, all of Mt. Pleasant; a daughter, Esther L. Williams of Marion, Ark.; two sisters, Nancy Harrison of Coal City, Ill., Diane Hargis of Gardner, Ill.; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Shawn Williams, Jon Johnson, Richard Bowers, Roy Rhea, Todd Peters, Homer Neal and William Gibson.

Steven Dean Henthorn

Steven Dean Henthorn, 53, of Byhalia, died April 19, 2012, at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven.

Burial was at 2 p.m. on April 23 at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Somerville, Tenn.

He leaves a son, Steven Mitchell Henthorn; his mother, Charline Lax; stepfather, Robert Lax; a brother, Scott Bagwell; sister, Sherri Marcum; and a stepbrother, David Lax.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Dean “Lil Ricky” Henthorn; and a sister, Sandra Harris.

Shirley Kay Kimmons Isom

Shirley Kay Kimmons Isom, 52, of Potts Camp, died May 19, 2012 at Baptist Hospital in Oxford. She was a retired certified nursing assistant at Graceland Nursing Home and a member of Christ New Beginning Church in Holly Springs, where she was on the Mother’s Board.

Visitation will be May 25, 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home and May 26, 9-9:55 a.m. at the church. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on May 26 at Christ New Beginning Church with burial in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Pastor Harvey Garrison will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her husband, Henry Mack Isom; two daughters, LaToya LeMax Isom, Nikki Nicole Spight, both of Potts Camp; a step-daughter, Sondra Gibson of Holly Springs; three sisters, Etta Shead of Aurora, Ill., Willene House, Joan Lee Rogers, both of Nashville, Tenn.; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by siblings Lessie B. Mosby, Autry Kimmons Jr., Mable Kimmons and Gerline Rooks.

Leggessie F. Knox

Leggessie F. Knox, 87, of Batesville, formerly of Byhalia, Germantown, Tenn., and Chicago, Ill., died May 18, 2012 at Tri Lakes Medical Center in Batesville. She was the widow of Charlie Knox.

Visitation will be May 23, 2-6 p.m. and May 24, 8-9 a.m. at the funeral home.

Services will be held at 9:15 a.m. on May 24 at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at West Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn. at 11 a.m.

She leaves a daughter, Doris Morrow (Nelson) of St. Louis, Mo.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Joseph Jones

Joseph Jones, 80, died May 9, 2012. He was the widower of Ollie Mae Taylor Jones. He was an employee of the Memphis City Schools for many years until retirement.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 19 at Royal Chapel CME Church in Byhalia, where he was a member. Rev. Johnny Wilson, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves a son, Joseph Jones Jr. (Shirley) of Holly Springs; four brothers, Jasper Jones, John Jones Jr., James L. Jones (Mary), all of Collierville, Tenn., Frankie Lee (Laurean) Jones of Brownsville, Tenn.; two sisters, Rosie Jones of Stanton, Tenn., Dorothy (Leroy) Prewitt of Somerville, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Ann.

Pallbearers were Richard Brown, David Jones, Thomas Harvey, Gregory Jones, Charles Jones and Lorenzo Sanders. Honorary pallbearers were Jasper Jones, Larry Seldon, John Jones Jr., Carey Jones, James L. Jones, Henry Smith, Frankie Lee Jones and Joseph Jones Jr.

Willie Clay Rayford

Willie Clay Rayford, 84, of Byhalia, died May 17, 2012 at Alliance HealthCare System in Holly Springs. He was a retired construction laborer.

Visitation will be May 23, 2-7 p.m. at the funeral home, with family visiting from 6-7 and at the church on May 24 from 11-11:55 a.m.

Services will be held at 12 noon on May 24 at Union Valley MB Church in Byhalia, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Joe Richmond will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Bertha Tuggles Rayford of Byhalia; four daughters, Beatrice Seals, Burma Rayford, Helen Rayford, all of Byhalia, Patricia Jackson of Holly Springs; five sons, Tommie Rayford of Byhalia, Alan Rayford of Houston, Tex., Percell Rayford, Charles Rayford, both of Memphis, Tenn., Willie Rayford of Boston, Mass.; a sister, Ola Mae Rayford of Byhalia; 26 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Rayford.

T.C. Richard

T.C. Richard, 75, of Holly Springs, died May 19, 2012 at his home.

Visitation will be held May 25 at the funeral home from 2-7 p.m. with the family visiting from 6-7 p.m. and May 26 from 10-10:55 a.m. at the church.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., May 26 at Samuel Chapel MB Church in Ashland, where he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Joseph Davis will officiate. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Evelean Isom Richard; four daughters, Gwen Mayfield, Linda Sellers, Connie Aldridge, Tamika Patterson, all of Holly Springs; three sons, Thams Richard, T.C. Richard Jr., Lenward Richard, all of Holly Springs; seven step-daughters, Floria Suggs, Edna Pointer, Carolyn Reliford, Shelia Allen, all of Holly Springs, Dorothy Pitts of Waterford, Mechelle Reliford, Gloria Reliford, both of Memphis, Tenn.; a step-son, Otis Reliford of Olive Branch; four sisters, Deanna Richard, Gertha Richard, both of East St. Louis, Ill., China Richard of Springfield, Ohio, Gail Richard Kirk of Memphis, Tenn.; four brothers, William Thomas Richard, Gary Richard, David Richard of East St. Louis, Walter Richard Jr. of Syracuse, N.Y.; 33 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Morris Richard, and siblings, Theodore Richard, Arthur Richard and Nyetha Barton.

Larry Skelton

Larry Skelton, 67, of Horn Lake, died May 11, 2012. He was a member of Byhalia Baptist Church and a mechanic.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 19, 2012, at Victoria Heights Baptist Church. Burial was in Red Banks Cemetery. Holly Springs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves a son, Stacy Skelton of Cockrum; three daughters, Tammy Walker of Horn Lake, Toni Hudspeth of Ashland, Terri Young of Myrtle; a sister, Emma Jean Aldridge of Olive Branch; and five grandchildren.

Ida Aline Smith

Ida Aline Smith, 83, of Holly Springs, died May 20, 2012, at Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Services were held at 3 p.m. on May 22 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Carey Chapel Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Bro. Frank Feathers officiated.

She leaves her husband, James Smith; four sons, Billy Joe Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Donald Ray Smith of Potts Camp, James A. Smith of Red Banks, Roy Neal Smith of Horn Lake; three daughters, Patricia Smith Maroney of Mt. Pleasant, Joann Bullard of Olive Branch, Janice Taubken of Pevely, Mo.; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
