Lillie Williams Driver, 93, of Holly Springs, died May 8, 2012, at Trinity Mission Health & Rehab in Holly Springs. She was the widow of Andrew Driver. She was a retired domestic worker. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on May 12 at Anderson Chapel CME Church in Holly Springs, where she was a member. Burial was in Cottrell Memorial Garden. Rev. Denise Anders Modest officiated. J.F. Owens of Milwaukee, Wisc. Minnie Mae Edwards Minnie Mae Edwards, 88, of Red Banks, died May 8, 2012, at her home. She was a member of Carey Chapel. She was retired from Carrier Corp. Services were held at 3 p.m. on May 10 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Carey Chapel Cemetery. She leaves her husband, Fred Lee Edwards; a son, Kirby F. Edwards of Red Banks; two daughters, Kathleen Skelton of Holly Springs, Carolyn Spurlock of Texas; a brother, James Smith of Holly Springs; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Nyesha Jeaneice Everett, 12, of Byhalia, died May 11, 2012, at Baptist Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. She was a member of Everett’s Chapel MB Church in Michigan City, a cheerleader, a member of the dance team, a member of the gifted class and art class, an honor student and sixth grader at H.W. Byers School in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on May 18, 2-6 p.m. and at the school gym May 19, from 11-11:55 a.m. Services will be held at 12 noon on May 19 at H.W. Jean Carolyn Wilson Hoyt Jean Carolyn Wilson Hoyt, 79, of Ashland, died May 13, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Robert Eric Hoyt Sr., her husband of 58 years. She retired from Oak Hall in Memphis after 35 years of service. Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 15 at Ashland United Methodist Church. Burial was in Ashland Cemetery. Sammie Louis Jeffries, 63, of Waterford, died May 14, 2012, at Alliance HealthCare System. He was a member of Wilkins Chapel CME Church and a disabled, self-employed, construction worker. Visitation will be held on May 17, 2-7 p.m., with the family visiting with friends from 6-7 p.m. and at the church on May 18 from 12 noon to 12:55 p.m. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on May 18 at Greenfield Presbyterian Church in Waterford. Casey Denise Jones Casey Denise Jones, 35, of Byhalia, died May 7, 2012. She was a member of Barton First Baptist Church and a business manager for the Marshall County Water Association. Mattie L. Blackmond Jones Mattie L. Blackmond Jones, 95, of Holly Springs, died May 2, 2012, in Holly Springs. She was a housekeeper. She was a member of Chulahoma MB Church, the oldest member of the mother board at the church and a member of the community center choir. Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 12 at Chulahoma MB Church. Burial was in the Chulahoma Cemetery. Rodgers Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She leaves four daughters, Lela Ray Faulkner, Shirley Jones, Ann Jones, all of Chicago, Ill., Clara Jones of Holly Springs; a son, Michael Jones of Chicago; two sisters, Rosie Blackmond of Wyattes, Morristeen Fitts of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; 62 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 39 great-great-grandchildren.
Victoria Jones Lucas, 93, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died May 7, 2012, at her home. She was the widow of Crawford Alphonso Lucas. She was a retired teacher with Memphis City Schools after 30 years. Services were held at 12 noon on May 11 at Temple of Love CME Church in Memphis, where she was a member. Burial was in Chulahoma MB Church Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Calverta McMorris officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. She leaves three children, Alice Lucas-Meeks, Crawford Lucas, Charles Lucas, all of Memphis; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Willie Thomas Matthews, 81, of Batesville, formerly of Benton County, died May 8, 2012, at his home. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and church trustee and a self-employed farmer. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on May 13 at Mt. Zion CME Church in Benton County, where he was a member. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Roosevelt Gage officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. He leaves his wife, Sarah Kuykendoll Matthews; a daughter, Chyleen M. Gage (Rev. Roosevelt Gage) of Okolona; three stepdaughters, Joan Johnson, Elizabeth Jones, April Chapman, all of Batesville; a stepson, Eric Chapman of Batesville; a brother, Jerry Elliott of Ashland; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two children, Benjamin F. Matthews and Willie Thomas Matthews Jr.
Marvell Moore, 53, died May 3, 2012. He was a member of Pleasant Hill CME Church and later New Life in Christ in Olive Branch. Burial was in Hudsonville CME Church Cemetery. He leaves his fianceé, Angela Watkins; his daughters, Staice Williams of Memphis, Tenn., Curtise Jones of Red Banks, Sherise Sims of Holly Springs, Shagrace Walker of Mt. Pleasant; a son, Cornelius Pritchard of Red Banks; sisters Jennette Sullivan of Rossville, Tenn., Terrie (James) McAfee of Mt. Pleasant; a stepsister, Forestine Taylor; brothers William Scott (Deborah) Moore, Ralph Moore, Alvin Moore of Mt. Pleasant, Ricky Robinson, L.C. Robinson, Willie James Malone of Memphis; a stepbrother, Robert Brewster. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Alberta Bridget, Versie Wright; and two brothers, Sammie Howell and James Edward Howell. Pallbearers were William Scott Moore Jr., Alvin Anderson, Brandon Moore, Eddrick McAfee, LaCarlos Robinson and Agusta King. Honorary pallbearers were Cornell Winton Jr., Erric Little, Leondrius Robinson, George Braxton, Albert Franklin, Edward McAfee, Kenny Wright, Dwight Shaw, Leoney Robinson, Mitchell Wilson and Billy McKinnie Jr. Serenity Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Brenda Ann Cox Vick Brenda Ann Cox Vick, 54, of Hickory Flat, died May 10, 2012, at Baptist Hospital-DeSoto in Southaven. She was a former employee of Sunbeam and Woodcraft and a member of First Baptist Church of Potts Camp. Services were held at 2 p.m. on May 13 at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley. Burial was in New York Cemetery in Ripley. Bro. Paul Hicks officiated. She leaves her husband, Nicky Vick; three daughters, Christy Ann Theisen (Daniel) of Mt.
