Stirring up memories
Pam has been digging out old photos at the house.
She’s been looking for “just the right ones” of Andy for various senior ads – yearbook, newspaper and others.
Close to Nowhere
I’ve been thinking about recipes a lot lately. I love Martha Ruth Leonard’s recipes (now found permanently, we hope, on Page 5). Sometimes, when I pick one that I think is particularly yucky, several in the office will say “oh, that sounds good.” Sometimes, when I think one sounds really good, I’ll hear some say “oh, yucky!”
The Preacher’s Corner
Expenses met from the rental of pews
In most churches, receiving the offering is an important practical, if not spiritually significant, part of the service. Ask a small child to name the most interesting parts of the worship hour, and they are sure to mention the collection. One minister’s son of my acquaintance was looking forward to growing up so he could be like his dad: “Men take up money from everybody who comes to church and then they bring it to the front and give it to my daddy!”
Letters To The Editor
Needs love, care
About eight weeks ago on Bubba Taylor Rd., near Gravel Pit Rd., you dumped your little black mama dog, with a litter of three or four black puppies, maybe 6 weeks old at that time. I want to give a good description, so you will know who you are.
