Woods wins first in three events
Five Potts Camp High School athletes will compete Saturday in the State Track and Field Meet at Pearl.
Advancing are Tenesha Woods, Megan Watkins, Kris Roberts, Brantley Harris and Kody Joyner.
Woods placed first in three events last Saturday at the Class 2A North State Meet on the Mississippi State University campus in Starkville. She won the high jump (4-10), the long jump (16-02) and the triple jump (34-02.75).
Watkins took first place in the pole vault (7-00). She will also compete at state in three other events after strong finishes at north half – fourth, 100 meter hurdles (20.73); fourth, 300 meter hurdles (54.45); and third, triple jump (32-02).
Harris won first in the pole vault (10-00) at the North State Meet.
Kris Roberts finished second in both of his races – 1600 meter run (4:58.32) and 3200 meter run (10:55.78).
Kody Joyner will also be moving on to state after placing fourth in the discus throw (110-07) at north half.
In overall standings at the North State Meet, the Lady Cardinals and Cardinals both placed fourth with 84 and 59.50 points, respectively.
