Deadline Thursday for graduation edition
The South Reporter announces its annual Graduation Edition, which will be published on Thursday, May 17.
The deadline for congratulatory advertisements from parents and businesses, plus information and photos from area high schools, has been extended to Thursday of this week at 12 noon.
Byhalia, Galena bands in concert Thursday
Byhalia High School presents The Majestic Sounds of Spring 2012, featuring the Byhalia High School bands in concert.
Special guests will be Galena Middle School concert band and choir.
The concert will be held Thursday, May 10, at BHS (outside on the lawn, bring your lawn chairs), at 6 p.m.
Admission is free.
Byhalia police officers respond to 62 calls
The Byhalia Police Department responded to 62 calls last week.
Chief Gary Looney released the following report – alarm calls, 9; miscellaneous, 24; escorts, 6; juvenile-related calls, 2; thefts, 3; disturbances, 3; assists, 3; fires, 3; damaged property, 1; burglaries, 1; medical-related calls, 7. Officers also made two arrests last week.
Annual health fair on tap for Thursday
The 12th annual Eddie L. Smith Community Health Fair will be held this Thursday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Holly Springs Multi-Purpose Building.
The health fair will include free health screenings, plus free health information from various local, state and national agencies. There will be food, fun and door prizes. The community service program is provided by Alliance HealthCare System, Williams Medical Clinic and Alliance Charitable Foundation of Marshall County.
Victoria heath fair scheduled for May 18
The Byhalia Family Health Center and Northeast Mississippi Planning and Development District’s Congregate Meal Program will provide free health screenings May 18 at the Victoria Community Center.
The health fair runs from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Anyone in Marshall County is invited, according to District 4 supervisor George Zinn III. Screenings include blood pressure checks, plus diabetes testing, and HIV testing.
Snacks will be provided.
