Pritchett wins big-time tourney With a strong
field of 72 selected junior golfers from all over the world, Zack
Pritchett recently won the first American Junior Golf Association
Tournament he has competed in. This was a big win
for the junior at Marshall Academy. Playing against an international
field and being the only Mississippian in the field, he put his home

North State next for Potts Camp Several Potts Camp athletes are moving on to North Half after strong finishes in the Region 1-2A Track Meet Saturday. The
top four from each regional event will compete this Saturday, May 5, on

Murphy and Chase Ferrell ran their way to first place in both the 400
meter and 800 meter relays Saturday at the North State Track Meet in
Greenville. Their times were 45.3 in the 400 meter relay and 1:34.4 in
the 800 meter relay. Lafever also placed first in the North in the 200
meter dash (23.60) and in the 100 meter dash (11.64). In field events
held earlier in the week, Fitzpatrick finished first in the long jump
(20-3) and second in the triple jump (41-4). The four MA seniors move
on to the State Track Meet this week in Jackson. |
Hawks second at regional The Holly Springs High School boys took second place in the Region 1-3A Track Meet Saturday in Oxford. The Hawks finished with 86 points, trailing Booneville with 94. Aberdeen was third with 81 points. Full Story
Byers, Ashland athletes advance Some members
of the H.W. Byers and Ashland track teams are advancing to North State
after placing in the top four at the regional meet Saturday. The Region 1-1A event was held at Byhalia High School. Full Story
Byhalia 5K this Saturday The Town of Byhalia will sponsor its second annual 5K run/walk Saturday, May 5, to raise money for the American Cancer Society. The 5K begins at 9 a.m. at the gazebo on Brunswick.

Cards’ season ends with series loss to Hamilton Lions By BARRY BURLESON Editor Potts Camp’s playoff run ended last week in round two with two losses to Hamilton. The Cardinals lost by 10 and 11 to the Lions, a tradition-rich baseball program in Monroe County between Aberdeen and Columbus. Full Story

Patriots, with 40 points, trailed second-place Kirk Academy (86) and
