North State next for Potts Camp

Several Potts Camp athletes are moving on to North Half after strong finishes in the Region 1-2A Track Meet Saturday.

The top four from each regional event will compete this Saturday, May 5, on the campus of Mississippi State University in Starkville.

The Potts Camp girls won the regional, held at Byhalia, with 144 points. Next closest was Walnut with 96. East Union placed third with 95.

The Potts Camp boys were second in the regional with 107 points. They trailed first-place Walnut with 148. Bruce was third with 84.

The list of those who finished in the top four at the regional and advanced to North Half follows.

• Girls 300 meter hurdles – first, Megan Watkins, 55.09; fourth, Dana Jeffries, 1:00.60.

• Boys 800 meter run – first, Kris Roberts, 2;16; third, Jose Ramirez, 2:24.

• Girls 200 meter dash – third, Jessica Peterson, 28.46.

• Boys 200 meter dash – second, Jordon Harris, 24.01.

• Girls 4x400 meter relay – second, Monesha Pegues, Anna Summerlin, JaKayla Johnson, Jessica Peterson, 4:51.23.

• Boys 4x400 meter relay – first, Jose Ramirez, Kris Roberts, Jordon Harris, Brantley Harris, 3:46.16.

• Girls long jump – first, Tenesha Woods, 16-05.50; fourth, Terri Peace, 13-10.75.

• Boys long jump – third, Marquis Johnson, 19-05.50.

• Girls high jump – first, Tenesha Woods, 5-00.

• Boys high jump – fourth, Jordon Harris, 5-06.

• Boys discus throw – third, Kody Joyner, 103-09.

• Girls triple jump – first, Tenesha Woods, 36-05.50; second, Megan Watkins, 30-06.50.

• Boys triple jump – fourth, Brantley Harris, 38-08.50.
